QUANTICO, VA (September 24, 2021) – The 2021 Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) Weekend events scheduled for Friday, October 29 through Sunday, October 31 in Arlington, Virginia and the nation's capital, have been canceled due to security and safety precautions currently in place.
General Registration The 47th MCM live event is sold out. A limited number of virtual MCM entries are still available, as well as live and virtual entries for the MCM50K.
The First 3 miles are slightly uphill The problem with this is is that the first three miles are deceptively uphill. Unfortunately, for those runners that don't read this guide, it means running even a little faster or at goal race pace is going to take more of a toll on your body than you realize or even feel.
4) A Boston Qualifier The qualifying time is required to be run with a set date range on a certain type of course. Participating in the Marine Corps Marathon is a way of qualifying for the event. In 2019, 1.7% of finishers qualified for the Boston Marathon.
To celebrate the 45th Marine Corps Marathon, the fee to register for the event has been reduced by 4.5% over the 2019 cost from $180 to $171.90. The MCM50K registration fee will remain $200.
Anyone over the age of 14 can run the MCM. Unlike the Boston Marathon, you don't have to qualify to enter. And in spite of the marathon's name, you don't need any sort of connection to the military to sign up, either.
Demand to get into the Marine Corps Marathon is high, attracting runners from all over the nation and over 60 countries, but the field is limited to 30,000 participants.
This is a great race, nice and relatively flat for an Urban Ultra race. The course runs along with the Marine Corps Marathon, starting about a half an hour prior to the marathon.
Marine Corps Marathon Pace Bands are adjusted for the specific terrain of the course, your goal time and pacing strategies.

Across the board, most people finish a marathon in 4 to 5 hours, with an average mile time of 9 to 11.5 minutes. A finishing time that's under 4 hours is a real accomplishment for everyone other than elite runners, who can finish in around 2 hours.
