WMU On-Campus Crime Stats Western Michigan University reported 71 incidents related to crime and safety in 2019. These student-involved incidents took place on campus. Based on a student body population of 21,470, that's 3.31 incidents per 1,000 students.
Vaccination is the most critical and accessible way to protect yourself and those around you. Vaccines are safe, effective and free for everyone. WMU strongly encourages COVID-19 vaccination for students, faculty and staff to prevent severe illness, hospitalization and death.
Two types of withdrawals are possible—student-initiated withdrawal and hardship panel-approved withdrawal. Courses from which the student withdraws will appear on the student’s transcript with a non-punitive W grade. The student’s GPA will not be affected.
A 24-hour grace period is provided to students who drop a course that meets for the first time on or after the end of the drop/add period. Students dropping a class within 24 hours of the start date should contact the Registrar's Office to make sure they receive the correct refund.

WMU welcomes students from all over the world and from many backgrounds. Unfortunately, applicants sometimes experience natural disasters or major crises that impact their ability to complete the admissions process by stated deadlines. We do not want students and families experiencing such difficulty to abandon their college plans.
