2022 - 2023 Catalog Dropping a Course or Withdrawing from College. Based on section 51.907 of the Texas Education Code, Dallas College or any other Texas Public institution of higher education may not permit students to drop more than six college level credit courses for unacceptable reasons during their entire undergraduate career without penalty.
Associate degree programs require a total of at least 60 credit hours. A certificate of proficiency is awarded for 30 credits of an approved career program; a certificate of competency is earned for approved programs of less than 30 credits. The normal course load for a full-time student is from 12 to 18 credit hours.

To drop a class without any penalties (Drop with Refund), you must drop it before the 100 percent refund date. Students can drop courses online through the MDConnect student portal. The dates for dropping with a refund and withdrawing can be found in your fee invoice schedule or in the academic calendar.
2. Passing a college-level graded course with a C or higher. Note: Although a D-grade (1.0) is considered a passing grade according to Financial Aid and the College, it does not help students increase their GPA so a C-grade (2.0) is recommended.
Students wishing to permanently withdraw from DePaul University must fill out an online form through Campus Connect. Simply ceasing to attend, or notifying the instructor, or nonpayment of tuition, does not constitute an authorized withdrawal and may result in academic as well as financial penalty.
Once you have dropped a class, you no longer have to attend it, and you will no longer receive a grade in that course. Instead, there will usually be a "W" (for "Withdrawn") next to the course's name, instead of a letter grade, on your transcript. This "W" will not affect your GPA.
Withdrawal usually means the course remains on the transcript with a “W” as a grade. It does not affect the student's GPA (grade point average). Although students may be reluctant to have a “W” on their transcript, sometimes “W” stands for Wisdom.

You can use the “what if” feature to see how courses you have taken will apply to a different major, but to actually change your major, you need to complete the “Change of Major” form with your advisor or a counselor or advisor in Counseling who will send it to Assessment Services.
The deadline to drop a class with no academic or financial penalty is the 10th business day for the standard 10-week term, For classes that are more or less than 10 weeks in duration, the deadline is equivalent to 20% of the class meeting time.
