IU Bloomington's Official Academic Calendar is assembled by the Office of the Registrar and contains notable deadlines for registration, drop/add, withdrawal procedures, grade submission deadlines, and many other important dates.
Please note that the final day a student may request a complete withdrawal from all enrollments for the semester is the final day of instruction/classes for the term. Faculty verify class attendance and report student enrollment discrepancies through the Student Engagement Roster . Due the Sunday after the sixth week of the term.
Drop/Add from the second week of class through the Automatic W Deadline. After the first week of the semester, use eDrop/eAdd to request schedule changes. You can drop a class using eDrop up through the automatic-W deadline for the class.
Students can drop their classes any time after registering for their classes through the first week of classes by following the Drop or Add Classes link in One. IU.
You can replace a grade for a given course no more than twice, and each attempt counts towards your 15-credit limit. You must complete, sign, and submit the replacement form before you graduate. You must be pursing your first bachelor's degree from IU.

To drop or add classes through the end of the self-service period using the Student Center:Go to Drop or Add Classes (through 1st week of classes) .Follow the instructions you used for your initial registration: Enroll in a class. Drop a class. Edit classes with variable credit. Swap classes.
If you receive a grade lower than an A in a class, you may be able to retake the class to remove that grade from your GPA. (Note that both grades will remain on your transcript; however, the earlier will have an X next to it and, depending on your school, may not be included in your GPA.)
If you fail a class, you'll get a 0 on your transcript — and that can bring down your GPA. Failed classes count toward your GPA, though some colleges do not count pass/fail classes in your GPA calculation. If you get an F, you still have to pay for the class without receiving any credit toward your degree.
In many schools, if a student retakes a course, the most recent grade will replace the lower grade in the student's GPA. The earlier, lower grade will remain on the transcript, but will not be included in the GPA. Some schools, however, average the two grades and include the averaged grade in the GPA.

15-weekClasses are offered in full semester (15-week), and half-semester (7-week, historically called 8W1 and 8W2) sessions.
If you’re an undergraduate student enrolled in 12–18 credit hours, be sure to drop and add at the same time—ideally, on the same day. This action, sometimes called “course swapping,” will keep your tuition from changing. You may be charged additional fees if you don’t submit a drop and add together.
If you drop courses after the first week of classes, you’ll be charged a $23.00 late schedule change fee for each course you drop.
If you withdraw after the refund period due to unusual circumstances, you may be able to appeal the fee refund policy.
If you need to drop an audit course, you will need to follow special instructions.
Learn which courses are offered in upcoming semesters. Do you need help deciding which courses to take? Consult your degree map and your advisor.
Find out when your courses begin and end, plan your breaks, and know when to expect an end-of-semester pick-me-up package from your family.
You’ll be charged a late schedule change fee of $23 for each class you drop after the first week of classes. You’ll also be charged this fee if you change sections, change arranged hours, or change whether you’re taking a class for credit or auditing it.
To avoid additional tuition, drop and add as closely together as possible. If you stay in the 12–18 hour range after dropping and/or adding, your tuition won’t change. If you end up with fewer than 12 hours, dropped hours are refunded at the applicable refund period percentage.
Submitting a request is not a confirmation that the course has been dropped or added . After the appropriate advisor, department chair, and/or dean has approved your request, you’ll get an email confirming that your request was approved and your schedule has changed. It’s your responsibility to monitor the status of your request.
