There are formally-trained snipers in the Special Forces, but for the most part they aren’t a separate team, and the only real distinction between a ‘sniper’ and a ‘non-sniper’ is who’s been to the Special Operations Target Interdiction Course (SOTIC) and who hasn’t.

Often, guys will do the level 2 course as a train-up to level 1. The regular US Army Sniper School is considered a level 2 course. The SFSC is a 8 week course, run 5 times a year, that teaches sniper marksmanship, including semiautomatic shooting and ballistics theory. SFSC students also learn field craft which includes tactical movement, ie stalking, in which a sniper covertly finds and fixes his prey.
The USMC Scout Sniper School is widely regarded in the military as the finest sniper training program. The Marines offer a tremendous program that trains eligible sniper candidates in all branches of the armed services.

There are two. Each SF Group runs an internal level 2 sniper course while the Special Warfare Training Group runs the level 1 Special Forces Sniper Course (SFSC) previously known as the Special Operations Target Interdiction Course (SOTIC). There are minor differences between the two but primarily, the level 1 course certifies the sniper to support assault teams while the level 2 course does not. You would get the B4 designation by attending ether the US Army Sniper School at Ft. Benning, the same course run by the National Guard at Camp Robinson Ark or the Special Operations Target Interdiction Course at Ft Bragg. I’m not sure, but I believe passing the USMC Scout/Sniper Course also give you that ASI as well.
In order to be even considered as a sniper candidate you will likely have to be in for at least 2-3 years and have completed all of your basic and some of your advanced training (mountain, winter, mounted and dismounted warfare, basic and advanced recce etc).
If you are confused as to what the Infantry is, the Infantry is the fighting force. Your duty isn't to fix trucks or operate tanks, it's to fight, mostly on foot, and to close with and destroy the enemy. 2. Snipers are drawn from the BEST of the Infantry.
That means in order to be even considered you will have to not only join a ground force like the Army or Marines etc but specifically the "Black Cadillac" (combat boot) marching straight legged Infantry. If you are confused as to what the Infantry is, the Infantry is the fighting force.
