January 13, 2021. Pilgrims Run is a brilliant Mike DeVries design that does not get its Due! This is a true gem of a golf course that has better architecture, conditioning and greens than many Top 100 public courses in the US and in Michigan.
But Pilgrim's Run Golf Club, about 30 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids in Pierson may be just that, rivaling other upscale golf courses in the area: Thousand Oaks, Boulder Creek and Thornapple Point. But if you're talking strictly golf and value, this place trumps all three.
The accolades for Pilgrim's Run have rolled in: including "Fourth Best New Affordable Course in the U.S. and Canada" in 1999 by Golf Digest, as well as a "Top 100 You can Play" by Golf Magazine in 2002. Next spring the course will also host its first U.S. Open Qualifier.

The par 5 6th is a striking golf hole from tee to green that requires some strategy . With a large bunker in the fairway, you have to be realistic about your driving ability and pick the appropriate line. My offline tee shot ended up to the right of the bunker, where it turns out there’s ample room.
Pilgrim’s Run Golf Club is an outstanding golf course. With its variety of holes and natural setting, this is a course that should appeal to golfers of any ability. The course is challenging but fair with plentiful risk/reward opportunities.
