When a student drops a class, it disappears from their schedule. After the “drop/add” period, a student may still have the option to Withdraw. Withdrawal usually means the course remains on the transcript with a “W” as a grade. It does not affect the student's GPA (grade point average).
If you choose to drop a class after the drop deadline, it is considered “withdrawing” from a class. When you withdraw from a class, instead of having a grade on your transcript, it will be marked with a “W,” and according to the school policy, you may not get your money back that you had paid to enroll.
Earned a “D” in a 3000 or 4000 course that is not a prerequisite for another upper division course A “D” is considered passing. Student can choose to retake but not required. Both grades will count towards the GPA.

As mentioned above, in most cases it's OK to drop a class, especially if you haven't dropped a class before. Colleges understand that sometimes circumstances change, and having one dropped class on your transcript won't hurt your college applications.Jan 17, 2022
Log into your student account and go to the class registration area. Look for an "add/drop" tab. You'll see a list of your classes. Click on the "withdraw" option in the drop-down box.
If you don't officially drop the class, you are responsible for all tuition and fees. WITHDRAWING A COURSE means: • That you are removing a course from your class list after the Add/Drop period has ended. • is the official notification to the college that you will no longer be attending the course.
