Prospective students with hopes of attending Vanderbilt should be aware that despite not being an Ivy League school, Vanderbilt rates very highly on college ranking lists, sometimes higher than those of the Ivy League. Vanderbilt comes in at #14 in U.S. News & World Report's rankings of the best colleges in the nation.
The academics are rigorous. It is not uncommon for students to be up late studying, and many classes can be quite time consuming. Students are all academically-oriented, but also leave time to have a social college experience.
ACT Scores and Requirements The middle 50% of students admitted to Vanderbilt received a composite ACT score between 33 and 35, while 25% scored above 35 and 25% scored below 33.
Regularly enrolled undergraduate students who want to audit courses in any of the undergraduate schools of the university must obtain the written consent of the instructor to attend the class but do not register for the course for credit. Regular students may audit one class each semester.
The Division of Unclassified Studies (DUS) provides an opportunity for non-degree seeking students to take undergraduate courses for credit at Vanderbilt. Students in DUS can take courses in a variety of Vanderbilt schools, provided space is available and all prerequisites have been met.
