Pass/Fail Option Under such registration, the only final grades available to the student are P (pass) or F (fail). Undergraduate students may elect to take courses under the pass/fail option only after they have attained sophomore standing and only if they have earned grade-point averages of 2.000 or better.

Multiply the grade point you earned by the course credit value to get your overall grade for each course. Add up the credit values for all courses. Add up the overall grades for all courses. Divide the total overall grades by the total credit values to get your GPA.
A Z on your transcript indicates that the Professor never reported a grade for you. This most often happens in Independent Study or Honors courses when students hand in a paper late. If you see a Z on your record, contact the professor of the course immediately.
Considering the U of A is a very highly-regarded University, some classes are obviously difficult. Some classes are small with 30-40 students, while others are quite large with thousands of students. This may lead one to think that the professors do not pay much attention to the needs of individual students.

Withdrawal UnauthorizedWithdrawal Unauthorized (WU) The symbol “WU” indicates that an enrolled student did not officially withdraw from the course and also failed to complete course requirements.
Too many “W” grades can affect financial aid eligibility. However, if exercised on limited occasions, a “W” grade (vs. an “F” grade) can make a big difference in a semester GPA.

Undergraduate students may register under the pass/fail option for not more than 2 courses per semester up to a maximum of 12 courses. Further, they must carry a minimum of 12 course units graded with regular grades during each term in which they take courses under the pass/fail option.

Starts after 7 Week First ends and ends approximately 7.5 weeks later at the same time as the regular session. 8 Week First. May start a few days prior to the first day of class for the term and ends 8 weeks later. 8 Week Seconds. Starts after 8 Week First ends and ends 8 weeks later. 10 Week.
Term. The period of time between when the first class starts and all classes end. UA has 4 terms: Fall. Starts in August and ends in December. Winter. Starts in December, after Fall has ended and ends in January. Spring. Starts in January, after Winter has ended and ends in May.
Regular Session. Starts on the first day of the term and ends on the last day of the term. Pre. Used in summer only and it starts the first day of the summer term and ends 3 weeks later. Winter. Used in winter only and it starts the first day of the winter term and ends 3 weeks later. 5 Week First.
The time limit for filing a petition for a retroactive withdrawal either for extenuating circumstances or other reasons is typically one year from the last day of class of the semester for which the retroactive withdrawal is sought.
The W grade is awarded for all withdrawals between the first and final withdrawal deadlines--from the third week through the thirteenth week of a regular semester (including W grades awarded for administrative drops or for approved Late Change Petitions).
This option for graduate and professional students only applies to the Fall and Spring (regular) Semesters. If a student withdraws from the University from the third week of classes and before the final exam period, the student will receive a grade of WC (withdrawal-complete) for each class processed in the complete withdrawal, regardless of whether the student is passing at the time of withdrawal.
Course withdrawals before the first deadline, at the end of the second week of classes (the tenth day of regularly scheduled classes), result in cancellation of registration in the course. The course enrollment is deleted from the student's permanent record.

As of the first day of classes and through the last day of registration for credit, as stated in the Academic Calendar a student may not add a course with a Change of Schedule form without the permission and the signature of the course instructor.
Under appropriate circumstances, undergraduate students may petition for a complete retroactive withdrawal from all classes for a previous semester, and may, in rare circumstances, consider a petition for partial retroactive withdrawal. Petitions for retroactive withdrawal are only available before the student's degree is awarded.
Academic Eligibility Statuses. All new undergraduate students begin with a status of Eligible (i.e., good academic standing) Students must earn and maintain a 2.00 or higher cumulative GPA to continue in Eligible status. Students with a status of Eligible may enroll in courses.

Keeping in mind that becoming Ineligible is the result of 3 consecutive semesters under a 2.0 cumulative GPA, you should provide insight into the circumstances or challenges you have faced over those semesters, and then also describe how they may have changed (worsened or improved) during the last semester.
Review status occurs when a student earns a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above (i.e., good academic standing), but has a semester GPA of less than a 2.00. Students with a status of Academic Review will be contacted by their college or school to determine if they need assistance to improve their GPA.
A student who left the University with a cumulative GPA below 2.0, will not be in Good Academic Standing or Academic Eligible status.
Students who begin a semester/term with a status of Academic Warning and earn a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above at the end of the semester/term will return to Eligible status.
Warning status occurs when an undergraduate who was previously Eligible does not earn a 2.00 or higher cumulative GPA.
