AB is for Bachelor of Arts, and BSE is for Bachelor of Science in Engineering. They are the two undergraduate degrees offered by Princeton.
What is a certificate program? “Certificates of proficiency” enable students to supplement their work in their departmental concentrations with focused study in another, often interdisciplinary, field. Certificate programs are similar in many ways to the minors offered at other universities.

Each undergraduate course is one course unit; one course unit may be considered the equivalent of 4.0 semester hours. The A.B. program consists of eight terms of full- time study to satisfy the requirement of 31 courses (30 courses for students matriculating before 2001).

Instruction is offered at Princeton during the fall and spring terms. Each term is 15 weeks and consists of 12 weeks of scheduled classes; a 10-day reading period for preparation of final course work and, by the instructor's choice, continued instruction; and an 11-day final exam period.
