If you want to see a bit further ahead, you'll need to jump back into Garmin Connect phone app and go to the Garmin Coach section. From here, you can see your next workout and your workout schedule. While you can see your schedule plotted out on a calendar, you can only see specific details of workouts one week ahead.
A limited number of training plans, including the Garmin Coach training plans, can also be accessed from the Garmin Connect app (see What Is the Garmin Coach Feature in Garmin Connect? for instructions).

Look at it another way if you do a 5k and your HRavg (average) is above the threshold then either you really were trying really, really hard – or your calcs were a bit out! (Probably the latter) So try harder still next time.
The optimal range for training load is in the middle. If you are on the right of that you are too high, and on the left then your load is too light. You can always see where you are now and adjust accordingly.
It provides great, free (if you have a compatible watch) motivation to run faster and reach your goals. Like I mentioned in the Half Marathon program review, it doesn't take a lot to get me motivated. Having a goal race, and having my watch tell me when to workout is all I need to keep pushing.
