This past weekend I FINALLY took my USATF Level 1 Certification test. I passed with a 92% {80% is needed to pass the course} and I’m proud to say I am now a RRCA Certified Coachas well as USATF Level 1 Certified Coach! Below are my thoughts if you are thinking of taking the course! These are the different education levels offered by USATF
The Level 1 course is the cornerstone of the USATF Coaching Education Program. Led by USATF certified instructors, the 21.5 hour live course (presented on Zoom) covers all events and related sports science in a straightforward manner by emphasizing fundamentals, rules, safety and risk management, and teaching progressions.
No credit will be provided for any course completed prior to Level 1 certificate date and the Olympic quad start (January 1, 2017). At time of renewal, USATF membership and SafeSport Training must be current to access the recertification application.
Members may verify their certificate expiration date by accessing a copy on USATF Campus (certificates are available under Transcripts). A Level 1 certificate issued prior to December 31, 2012 is no longer current, and coaches will need to register and attend a new Level 1 School to attain certification

The USATF Adult Membership is for the athlete, coach, official, club admin, event director, volunteer, parent, fan and supporter of the sport. Adult members are aged 19 years and older. $40.00 per Calendar Year plus transaction fee. Memberships are active for the calendar year in which they are purchased.
There is a $22.00 fee for this screening which must be accomplished once every two years. The screening provider is the National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI), which conducts the following screenings: Identity verification.

A USATF-certified course is a road race course whose distance has been certified for accuracy. Courses must be certified for any road running performance to be accepted as a record or to be nationally ranked.

In the simplest outcomes, the top three finishers in each event go to the Tokyo Games. But, it's not always that clear cut. Athletes who finish in the top three of the final round of their event at the Trials also must have achieved the Olympic qualifying time or a high enough world ranking to move on to the Olympics.
Level 2 Recreational Running Coach - Course Information The Level 2 Recreational Running Coach course trains coaches to develop the fundamental technical and strategic skills for runners training for 5km through to ultra-marathon events.

Certified by the National Council for Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE), the course prepares an individual to coach at the junior high school, high school, club, and junior age division level.
Elite athletes that have made a "Big Three" team (Olympic, World Championships, or Pan American) are eligible for a 50% discount on tuition or registration fees and will be reimbursed following completion of the program. If an athlete is interested, they will need to contact the USATF Coaching Programs Coordinator.
The cost for a Level 1 school is $210.00 for early-registration or $260.00 after the early-registration deadline. To attend a Level 1 School a coach must: Be at least 18 years of age. Have a current USATF membership. Registration. Become a USATF Member. Locate a school. Complete the online registration process (visit the Coaching Education Calendar and select "Registration Information" for the school you want to attend)
You must complete steps 1-3 before accessing the recertification application. Please do not email copies of your certificates unless requested. Please allow five business days for application verification. Upon approval, your new certificate will be awarded on USATF Campus and valid until December 31, 2024.
July 1, 2019 – December 31, 2020 (waiver period) Expiration. December 31, 2024. Please note: A Level 1 certificate issued prior to December 31, 2012 is no longer current, and coaches will need to register and attend a new Level 1 School to attain certification.
Members who completed a Level 1 during the waiver period do not need to take any action until the next recertification period. Level 2 and 3 coaches remain exempt from recertification and no action is necessary.
