Virtual Loudoun offers online courses through Schoology using content that is aligned to the Standards of Learning to offer new educational opportunities to students. These courses present educational material and credit courses at the high school level to students using online resources.
Credit hours earned under this option will not be included in the minimum of 60 graded Loyola hours that must be completed to be eligible for academic honors at graduation. Students wishing to take a course without receiving credit may audit the course. Applicable tuition will be charged.
LCPS currently allows students to enroll in 2 online summer courses throughout their high school career to ensure LCPS has the capability of allowing all studentsthat want to take a course in Virtual Loudoun the ability to do so.
Virtual Loudoun courses are asynchronous — meaning you don't have to attend online classes at a specific time. Our students use a combination of self-study and peer-to-peer interaction over an online learning network to facilitate instruction.

LSAS Virtual Summer Courses are for rising 6th through 12th grade students. We are offering two sessions of engaging synchronous learning led by our academic year teachers. Classes are designed to inspire creativity, encourage intellectual engagement and provide positive social interactions.
Part 1: Memories & Memoirs. This part of the course will focus on memoirs and realist fiction. We will focus on the way that artists capture the texture of lived experience through their use of visual language. We will read coming of age stories by Chris Ware, Lynda Barry, and others.
Camps are offered in June, July and August.

Term 3 begins May 30, 2022, and ends August 5, 2022. For Terms 1 and 2, there are no fees associated with approved course enrollment for LCPS students. Virtual Loudoun courses are full-year courses offered in a condensed term. Students should expect, on average, to dedicate 140 hours to complete a 1 credit course within the term period.
Students MUST be 15 prior to the start of the 2021-2022 school year to enroll in Driver Education. Students who are not eligible to enroll in the Term 3 Health and PE with Driver Education portion of the course are permitted to register for Health and PE 10 ONLY.

There is no online school store this year. We would normally have an evening holiday event but will not this year, because unfortunately, we have very limited inventory due to supply chain issues. To get credit for the course, an undergraduate student must convert an Incomplete into a passing grade no later than the last day of the next quarter. An Incomplete not made up by the end of the next quarter (summer excluded) will be converted to the grade of 0.0 by the registrar unless the instructor has indicated, when assigning the Incomplete grade, that a grade other than 0.0 should be recorded if the incomplete work is not completed. The original incomplete grade is not removed from the transcript.
The UW operates on a quarter system and awards quarter credit. To convert quarter credits to semester credits, multiply by 0.67. Thus, a student who earned 10 quarter credits would be awarded 6.7 semester credits.
Grades reported in the range of 0.6–0.0 will be converted to 0.0. A grade of at least 2.7 is required for courses to meet UW Graduate School requirements.

Some courses are offered on a credit/no credit (CR/NC) basis. Credit/no credit classes can’t be taken for a regular grade. The instructor assigns a grade of either CR or NC, neither of which is calculated into your grade point average. Whether or not you receive credit, the course and the grade (CR or NC) are recorded on the transcript.
A maximum of twelve credit hours may be taken under the pass fail option during a student's undergraduate career; the credits will be included in the total number of hours earned toward graduation, but will not enter into the computation of cumulative grade point average.
The pass no-pass option may be selected by a student only during the first two weeks of the semester or the first week of a summer session. Once this option is chosen, a return to the regular grading system can only be accomplished during the first two weeks of the semester or the first week of a summer session.
Attempted credit hours indicate the amount of work the student attempted without reference to grades received. The hours for any course with a final grade other than "W" (withdrawal) or "AU" (audit) are included in attempted credit hours.

A student who earns a "B+" for a three credit-hour course, therefore, earns a total of 9.99 quality points for the course. Courses in which "F" or "WF" is earned are counted in the total attempted credit hours and receive zero quality hours.
The grades of "P" and "NP" will appear on the official record of the student's work taken at Loyola University, and may not be converted to any other grade. In the case of a change in a major or minor, the utilization of a course in which the student has already received a grade of "P" toward the requirements of the new major or minor will be at the discretion of the department concerned.
Students wishing to take a course without receiving credit may audit the course. Applicable tuition will be charged. Though a course that is audited does not count as hours attempted, auditors are required to attend class and will be awarded the mark of "AU" upon completion. "AU" does not affect a student's GPA.
