TAKING THE PERT You may opt to take the PERT remotely, with online Honorlock proctoring, or sign up to take it on-campus. You may take the PERT two times per Pinellas County semester, once over the summer. There is a $15 fee for second attempts. Additional attempts may disqualify you from consideration.
The Live Online modality as SPC is a blended format. Students complete online learning activities and attend synchronous, video-conferencing sessions (often through Zoom) with their professor. Live Online classes require students to attend weekly meetings with faculty in a virtual setting.

What does live online mean? Classes with this format meet at a regularly scheduled time online. You can interact live with your instructor and classmates as you all work together at the same time and same days. You complete homework assignments outside of this dedicated class time, just like in-person classes.

In 2009, the Legislature repealed the Florida Statute related to the College-Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) and eliminated funding for the test. As of July 1, 2009, students are no longer required to take the CLAST.
The student survey of instruction is administered in courses each semester. It is designed to improve the quality of instruction at St. Petersburg College. All student responses are confidential and anonymous and will be used solely for the purpose of performance improvement.
All electronic devices such as cell phones, beepers, pagers, and related devices are to be turned off before entering the classroom, library, and laboratories to avoid disruption. Use of any device in these areas is a violation of college policy and subject to disciplinary action.

The class is divided into six modules.
At the end of each module, take the post-assessment and see what you've learned. You can return to the previous sections at any time and repeat them as often as you like. In the sixth module, you will demonstrate your reading skills. Here is where you will read passages and answer questions about the passage.
SPC administers a variety of standardized tests that students must pass to enroll in a program of study or to graduate from some of our programs. You can take other tests to earn credit toward certain academic requirements.
Math placement is determined by your score on the Post-Secondary Readiness Test (PERT). If you score high enough on the PERT test you may be eligible to take the Accuplacer to determine if you qualify to enroll in a higher-level math course.
Placement testing. Placement testing helps you determine which courses you are ready for at SPC. These are not pass/fail tests, and test scores are used to help you decide what classes you should start with to help you be more successful. Taking a college placement test helps you decide which classes you should take at SPC.
You completed one year of high school chemistry with a grade of C or better. You have completed MAC1105 or MAC 1106 with a minimum grade of C or better. To schedule the Chemistry Placement Exam please contact your Academic Advisor. A score of 36 or higher is required to pass the exam. Contact an advisor.
If your native language is not English and you score below college level on the reading portion Post-Secondary Readiness Test (PERT), you will need to take the Levels of English Proficiency (LOEP) test.
