RANGER SCHOOL. Ranger School is the Army’s premier small unit leadership course for Soldiers. All members of the 75th Ranger Regiment are expected to attend and complete Ranger School either before or after their selection into the regiment.
In order to qualify for entry into the 75th Ranger Regiment you must: 1 Successfully complete RASP 1 (E-1 thru E-5) 2 Possess U.S. citizenship 3 Volunteer for assignment and be on active duty 4 Have a General Technical Score of 105 or higher (Waivers provided on a case by case basis) 5 Qualify and volunteer for airborne training 6 Have no pending UCMJ action 7 Enlist, currently hold, or voluntarily re-class into a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) found in the 75th Ranger Regiment 8 Be able to attain at minimum a secret clearance
PHASE 1: TESTING. Once classing up from Pre-RASP, Ranger candidates will begin the first full phase of selection. During this phase, they must clear a battery of physical and psychological tests. They are graded not only on their ability to get through the exams, but also on their strength of character and leadership ability.
RASP 2 is a three-week selection course for senior noncommissioned officers, officers, and warrant officers (E-5 (P) and above). Candidates are tested on their physical and mental capabilities while learning the special tactics, techniques and procedures that set the regiment apart, and learning the expectations of leading and developing young Rangers.

Reporting to the Ranger Training Brigade with military and medical records in hand and no rank or service insignia on his uniform, each candidate undergoes an in-processing procedure that begins with, as all things military must, paperwork. Upon completion of the administrative paperwork, the Army Physical Fitness Test-APFT-is administered. The school minimums are fifty-two pushups, sixty-two sit-ups, and a two-mile run in running shoes in less than fourteen minutes and fifty-five seconds. Upon completion of the run, each student must complete six chin-ups. With few exceptions, Ranger students are provided the opportunity to retest any physical or training event they initially fail.

Hand-to-hand combat is performed in pairs, where the students learn the basics of how to use their fists, elbows, knees, feet, and even heads to disable an opponent. Boxing is also a part of the program which includes several progressive classes of boxing instruction.

To pass RASP and qualify for the 75th Ranger Regiment, you must meet the following criteria: 1 Score 60% on the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) in the 17-21 age group. 2 Complete a five-mile run in less than eight minutes per mile. 3 Successfully complete the combat water survival test (CWST). You must complete 15 meters in BDUs, boots and LBE. 4 You must complete two of three road marches, one of which must be a 10-mile road march. 5 You must score at least 70% on all exams.
Airborne school is broken down into three weeks. The following explains the training you must complete during each week. Ground Week: You start with an intensive program of instruction to build individual airborne skills. These skills prepare you to make a parachute jump and land safely.
