Since the Ironman is a grueling race, anything under the 17 hour cut off mark is an achievement. For those in the age group of 30-35, 13 hours for men and 14 hours for women are satisfactory. An athlete's five highest-scoring races are counted toward their pro rankings. The top 50 males and top 35 females in the pro rankings qualify for the championship race. Amateur triathletes can qualify for the championship race by earning a qualifying slot at one of the qualifying events.
But what about the slowest races overall? Those honors go to the Philippines, where we find both the 70.3 and full Ironman courses with the slowest average finishing times: 6:45:27 and 14:31:02, respectively. Only one North American event makes it on either list of slowest or fastest Ironman courses: Ironman St.

Athletes who choose to wear a wetsuit in water temperatures 76.2 degrees Fahrenheit (24.55 degrees Celsius) and up to 83.8 degrees Fahrenheit (28.77 degrees Celsius) will not be eligible for Age Group awards, including World Championship or Rolldown slots.
Each athlete will get the full 2 hours and 20 minutes to complete the 2.4 mile swim regardless of what time they enter the water. Athletes who take longer than 2 hours and 20 minutes to complete the swim will receive a DNF. Bike: The bike course will close at 5:30PM.
Wetsuits are permitted if the water temperature is up to (and including) 76.1 degrees Fahrenheit (24.5 degrees Celsius) or colder. Wetsuits cannot measure more than 5 mm thick. Wetsuits will be prohibited in water temperatures greater than 83.8 degrees Fahrenheit (28.8 degrees Celsius).
