The International Golf Club – Pines Course, Massachusetts, USA The I nternational’s first course, the Pines Course, was renovated by Robert Trent Jones in 1972 when he introduced slick greens and challenging bunkers to make it not only one of the longest courses in the world, but one of the most difficult.
The longest golf drive ever recorded was 787 yards by Carl Cooper at the 1992 Texas Open. This monster drive got some assistance from a cart path and a steep downhill, it can be argued that it doesn’t count but technically it does since there is no remarks column in the rules book.
The longest hole in the United States is at Meadows Farms in Locust Grove, Va., and it's 841 yards.
The average length of a golf course is 6,700 yards (6.12 kms). If you’re a professional and play on the PGA tour, you’ll probably be playing on a golf course which spans a length of about 7,200 – 7,300 yards.
The longest golf course in the world is in the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Golf Club in Lijiang, China. As might make sense, it's a mountain resort, so the course plays at altitude of 10,800 feet in the Himalayas...but still, to a crazy 8,548 yards. And, yes, it's a par-72 track.
The longest course on the PGA Tour is Torrey Pines' South Course, which plays to a length of 7,765 yards -- a 60-yard increase over last year. It can play that length, in part, because it was lengthened for the 2008 U.S. Open.
1. 3rd at Gusan Country Club, South Korea – 1,097 Yards (1,003m) We remain in Asia to find the longest golf hole in the world and the only one that totals above 1,000 yards – the iconic third at Gunsan Country Club in South Korea, a par 7 hole which measures an awesome 1,097 yards.

773 yardsBut that, and whatever hole you've got in mind, is small fry compared to the par-5 13th at TPC Colorado, which pros on the Korn Ferry Tour tackled in last week's TPC Colorado Championship. It's 773 yards, and the longest par 5 on any worldwide professional golf tour.
The Extreme 19thCoordinates: 24°12.2′S 28°41.35′E The Extreme 19th is the highest (400 metres or 1,300 feet) and longest (361 metres or 395 yards) par three golf hole in the world, located at the Legend Golf & Safari Resort in the Entabeni Safari Conservatory, Limpopo Province, South Africa.
Although no one in PGA Tour history has ever recorded an ace on a par-5, there have actually been five records of par-5 holes-in-one. And no, none of them were from Happy Gilmore. The first “condor” occurred in 1962 off the club of Larry Bruce.
The United States Golf Association defines a par 6 as any hole longer than 670 yards for men and 570 for women, although we all know that par is a very arbitrary number. Some championship courses are happy to keep holes longer than 700 yards as par 5s from the tips.
The longest hole in professional golf is actually a par 6 played on the European Challenge Tour. At the 2019 D+D Real Slovakian Challenge on the European Challenge Tour, Penati Golf Resort's 15th hole played at 783 yards, making it the longest golf hole in Europe.

The longest public golf course in the U.S. is Ross Bridge at the Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa.
Probably better known for its par-3 Extreme 19th hole, the Legend Golf & Safari Signature Course is pretty cool in its own right. Not only is it nearly 8,500 yards, making it the second-longest course in the world, but also a different big-name golfer or designer designed each of the holes, many from South Africa. (Retief Goosen designed the 18th, for example.) Most of the holes feature elevated tees, but none so elevated as the auxiliary par-3 hole. The tee is only accessible via helicopter (which will cost more than $200 extra to play) and the tee shot is to a green shaped like Africa some 1,200 feet below.
Hailed as the toughest golf course in Utah, the Jack Nicklaus-designed Painted Valley Course is one of two courses at Promontory Golf Club (the other is the Dye Signature Course ). With views of Park City's three major ski mountains, the front nine plays down and up a valley and starts with a 718-yard par 5, the longest hole on the course. The back is laid out more along meadows and features plenty more long holes, including the par-5 12th at 673 yards and the par-4 18th at 480 yards.
8,191 yards, par 72. The former home of a Champions Tour event (The Regions Charity Classic from 2006-10), Ross Bridge is not only one of the longest golf courses in the world, but also a favorite of the 10 courses on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
Designed by Tom Lehman and Chris Brands, the Dunes Course at The Prairie Club is laid out along the Sand Hills of Nebraska on the rim of the Snake River Canyon to create a most memorable golf setting. With a rolling landscape of prairies grasses, undulating fairways, elevated tees and big sky, golfers not only have to hit it long, but also control their ball flight and direction. The Dunes Course is one of three terrific layouts (the other two being the Pines Course and the 10-hole, par-3 Horse Course) at The Prairie Club, which offers reasonable stay-and-play packages.
Although we advise, in most cases, that simply playing one of the world's longest golf courses from any tee is good enough. With that said, here's a rundown of the 10 longest golf courses in the world.
The first hole, a 463-yard par four that plays downhill and from elevated tees, makes that abundantly clear from the start. “You can almost count to 10 before your ball hits the ground,” Greg Wagner, the director of golf, says of players’ drives on that first hole.
Even more astonishing, DeChambeau set a U.S. Open record by hitting the fewest fairways (23 of 56) of any champion. The 2020 U.S. Open proved that even the thickest and deepest of rough cannot defend low scores by itself, at least not against a player of DeChambeau’s strength and speed.
It’s fitting that Big Sky should be home to at least one big course. Measuring an even 8,000 yards from the back tees and situated across 800 acres (with 10 miles of cart paths), the Jack Nicklaus -designed layout at Moonlight Basin comes in at an imposing distance.
The Lone Creek tees, for example, measure slightly more than 6,800 yards, whereas the next option, the Jack Creek tees, stretch the course to almost 7,400 yards.
Ross Bridge (Hoover, Ala.) — 8,191 yards. Ross Bridge (photo by Michael Clemmer) Unlike The Shoals’s 8,000-yard behemoth, the Ross Bridge course on the RTJ Golf Trail provides a friendlier kick in the teeth for those who venture to its black tees.
The largest green is only about 5,000 square feet in area, and the widest fairway measures a mere 85 feet from edge to edge. According to Harner, those features—and especially the course’s length—are often misconstrued as a sign of Pete Dye’s penchant for building excessively difficult layouts.
Pete Dye Course at French Lick (photo courtesy French Lick Resort) Although it’s situated on one of Indiana’s highest elevation points (approximately 950 feet above sea level), don’t expect this course to play shorter than its yardage. In fact, golfers can expect those 8,100 yards to feel and play even longer.
The Purgatory is the perfect name for golfers attempting to play holes at such extreme lengths. It's heaven playing golf, but hell trying to score on a par 5 called "Eternal Torment". There's 13 bunkers to avoid and a green that's 36 yards deep.

The longest hole in the world is the par 7 3rd hole at the Gunsan Country Club in South Korea that measures a whopping 1,097 yards. It will take you 5 clear shots to reach the green regulation, which is harder than it sounds considering the hole runs alongside a substantial water hazard.
Most course architects will aim to include four par 3s (two on the first nine, two on the last nine), 10 Par 4s (five per nine), and four par 5s. But these objectives can change depending on the architect’s wishes, or even the terrain of the land.

A golf course is a field or a ground in which the game of golf is played. The grounds enclose a series of holes each consisting of a ‘fairway’ surrounded by the green. The rough and several ‘hazards’ included in the out of play area, the greens and tees, occupy approximately 5% of the total space. Seemingly simple, golf courses vary not only in ...

Speed and Rhythm. By now we know that speed equates to distance. All of the long hitters on the PGA Tour have high swing speeds and it is the main reason for how they hit the golf ball as far as they do. Without good rhythm though swing speed and added distance will only get you into trouble.
When a golfer steps up to the tee with their driver in hand their main goal is to try and hit the ball as far as possible. For many hitting it far is easy, but hitting it far and straight is another story.
Setup is key to ensure a rhythmic and balanced golf swing. Hitting the ball as hard as possible doesn’t deliver distance, timing does. Below is a list of easy to remember checkpoints which will ensure that you give yourself the best chance of hitting sweetly timed drives.
