If an incident arises that requires Jamaican Patois anywhere in the world, they pull a list of everyone who speaks it worldwide. They can then pick the best person from that list. Sometimes “best” means most fluent. Sometimes it means having the right security clearance. Sometimes it means the geographically closest person that can muddle through a conversation. It's good to have options, so we pay people to have and maintain random seeming languages. Just not as much as we pay people who need them for their job.
