WES ICAP includes your evaluation report plus verified transcripts for delivery to any recognized educational institution. WES Basic is your evaluation report only. The WES ICAP Course-by-Course evaluation is recommended for applying to educational institutions. The standard evaluation fee includes your official copy.
WES offers two types of evaluations: 1. A Document-by-Document evaluation contains a description of your credentials, including name, year awarded, name of institution attended, and major field of study. It also provides the U.S. equivalent for each credential.
A WES Basic Course-by-Course evaluation identifies and describes each of your credentials. It contains: The name of the credential. The requirements for entry.
ICAP stands for “international credential advantage package.” When you choose ICAP, your school (or the institution of your choice) will receive a copy of your verified transcripts in addition to your credential evaluation. WES will also store your documents after your credential evaluation has been completed.
The Course-by-Course Evaluation includes a synopsis of each educational credential and its U.S. equivalency. It includes the indigenous and U.S. Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) and identification of the recognition of post-secondary institutions.
How long does it take to obtain a WES evaluation? WES can complete your evaluation in 7 business days or less, depending on the type of service that you request. However, if additional research, correspondence or verification is required, the evaluation will take longer.
Is WES mandatory for a Canada PR? Yes, WES is mandatory for a Canadian PR via Express Entry. However, candidates who select the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Canadian Experience Class Program (CEC) are exempt from this requirement.
Although WES standard reports do not have an expiry date, Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) reports for Canadian immigration purposes expire five years from the date of issue. The first ECA reports expired in April 2018 after having been issued in April 2013.
Evaluation Types WES offers two types of credential evaluation reports: Document-by-Document Reports and Course-by-Course Reports. WES credential evaluations are based on authenticated documents received directly from the institutions that issued them.
You do need a course-by-course evaluation, but you do not need ICAP. ICAP service provides schools you send the report to with WES-verified transcripts. Not all schools accept transcripts from WES and may require you to send in original transcripts along with the WES evaluation anyway.

If you were assigned with a course through a curriculum assignment, once your Admin/ Training Manager/ Course Creator or Instructor removes it from the curriculum, you will be automatically unassigned from this course. However, if this course was directly assigned to you or if you got this through another curriculum, you will continue to be enrolled.
