The 18-hole "Sheaffer Memorial" course at the Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course facility in Fort Madison, Iowa features 6,303 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 69.9 and it has a slope rating of 118 on Blue grass. Designed by C.D. Wagstaff, the Sheaffer Memorial golf course opened in 1962.
Sheaffer is easily walkable and for the most part flat. It's a good course for beginners, but there's enough of a challenge for skilled players to have fun. The greens are the most challenging part of the course when they are rolling at a fast pace. Sometimes there can be some front pin placements that are fairly difficult to attack.
No skins out. All skins went back to flight winners. Former major leaguers Bob Dernier ( Phillies and Cubs outfielder) and Willie Wilson (Royals, Cubs and A's outfielder) enjoy a round at Sheaffers.
