When was Emerald Isle Golf Course built?

In 1965 the Oceana Land Co. built the 9 hole Oceana Golf Course in conjunction with the development of the Oceana community. Officially opened in 1966 with a ribbon cutting ceremony lead by iconic comedian and entertainer, Mr. Jack Benny, the course spanned 2,340 yards with four par 4’s, four par 3’s and a short par 5. In 1986, after several closures and changes in lease-holders, the property reopened as Emerald Isle Golf Course, featuring an 18-hole course that stretched 2,452 yards for a par of 56.
