The IPC J-STD-001 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) Course provides individuals with a portable credential that recognizes their soldering skills and understanding of this internationally recognized standard. The IPC J-STD-001 Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) course is built on a train-the-trainer instructional model.
The J-STD-001 certification program credential is valid for a two year period of time. Potential candidates for this IPC training program should have at least a 5th grade reading comprehension level and have some experience in the hand soldering of electronic components.
This IPC J-STD-001 Certified Standard Expert (CSE) variant is intended for anyone who wants to become an expert in the field of the relevant standard. These experts are often used by companies as coordinators to correctly apply the standard within the company.
Potential candidates for this IPC training program should have at least a 5th grade reading comprehension level and have some experience in the hand soldering of electronic components. BEST Inc. instruction is different from most training centers as we test on inspection skills as part of Module 5.

COURSE OBJECTIVE - Earn an overall score of 70% or better on the IPC written examinations in order for passage of the IPC J-STD-001 certification.
Certification will be granted by IPC to any individual who successfully completes the required Program and/or passes the minimum skills measurement criteria set by each Program's Technical Training Committee.
IPC-A-600 CIS: 2 - 3 days for full certification; 1 - 1.5 days for recertification. IPC-A-600 CIT: 3 days for full (all modules) certification; 1.5 - 2 days for recertification.
IPC, an electronics manufacturing trade association, sets industry wide standards for electronic manufacturing professionals. Electronic manufacturing engineers, line operators, and quality engineers, can become Certified IPC Specialists (CIS) who are proficient in these industry standard documents.
What is an IPC Certification? IPC, formally called the Institute for Printed Circuits, is a global association for the electronic manufacturing industry. IPC Certification and Technical Training have set an industry standard for excellence among the electronics industry workforce.
For example, IPC-A-610 specifies mandated criteria that should be used daily by board inspectors. The J-STD-001, on the other hand, provides the best practices that process engineers, supervisors and technicians should follow to achieve acceptable boards.
IPC A-610, Acceptability of Electronics Assemblies, is the most widely used inspection standard in the electronics industry and has earned an international reputation as the source for end-product acceptance criteria for consumer and high reliability printed circuit assemblies.
J-STD-001 is a standard issued by IPC for soldered electrical and electronic assemblies. The standard specifies material specifications, process requirements, and acceptability criteria.
Instructional skills and the roles and responsibilities of Certified IPC Trainers (CIT Certification program only)
Assembly process engineers, quality assurance supervisors, training managers and others responsible for the quality and reliability of soldered electronic assemblies are excellent candidates for the program.
The IPC J-STD-001 certification is based on the document of the same name, it is a very important training and a very important document because this document discusses the production- , assembly- and soldering process. It is the document relating to soldering on electronics and electrical circuits. In this document you will find which materials may be used in the production of electronic products but also tools that must be used.
This IPC J-STD-001 Certified Standard Expert (CSE) variant is intended for anyone who wants to become an expert in the field of the relevant standard. These experts are often used by companies as coordinators to correctly apply the standard within the company.

IPC certification plays a key role in bringing value to the electronics industry. These certification programs, built around IPC standards, developed and approved by industry, are delivered in a classroom setting by IPC certified trainers.
What certification level do you want to achieve working in the electronics industry? IPC currently provides three levels of certification to the IPC Standards for individuals working in the electronics industry.
