This is the 8th edition of the Top 100 for England, a chart that we have published every two years since 2006. Over the last few weeks we’ve produced seven regional listings – East Midlands , West Midlands , North West , East , North East , South West and South East.

Walton Heath New - maybe it suffers for being the second sibling but the only aspect it lacks in comparison with the tremendous Walton Old is length (even though the New has sufficient length). You basically get a more playable and more attractive version of the Old so it should be ranked higher.

Royal Dornoch (Championship course)

This club is absolutely beautiful. It’s a traditional links course. Located right by the sea, every hole you get a chance to see the water.

Muirfield

The oldest golf club to date built in 1744. This was the course that wrote the original 13 rules of golf. Muirfield has hosted the The open championship 16 times the most recent in 2013. With so much history this course is a must visit.

Trump Turnberry (Ailsa)

Host of the open championship in 2009. This club house was rebuilt and restored to become a super high end club. Trump has put in a lot of money into this project and it has paid off by becoming one of the best. Also revamped was the 9th, 10th and 11th holes which are compared to Pebble beach, Cypress point and Augusta National.
