Full Answer
Laboratory experience must be part of the education of AP Physics students and should be included in all AP Physics courses.
Excerpted from the AP Physics 1 Course and Exam Description, the Course at a Glance document outlines the topics and science practices covered in the AP Physics 1 course, along with suggestions for sequencing. The Course at a Glance was updated in the fall of 2021 to reflect the reduced scope of the course.
It’s been developed to create a more unified approach across all four AP Physics courses, and to more accurately reflect the current expectations of introductory college courses. The framework is anticipated to go into effect for the 2023-24 school year (May 2024 AP Exam administration).
Exceptions: Concordia requires scores of four or five on English and a score of five on music. The AP Music Theory has Aural Skills sub scores and Written Theory sub scores. The only scores for AP Music tests that are accepted are scores of five on the sub scores.
Students may obtain advanced placement and credit in selected courses at Concordia by earning an appropriate score on the Advanced Placement Program Test of the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB). Contact Admissions for information on the selected tests, required scores and equivalencies.
Not Reported "NR" indicates that a student appears to have unofficially withdrawn from a course. It is assigned by the Registrar when no material is available to evaluate and the instructor has been unable to submit a grade. "NR" carries a grade point value of zero and counts as a failure.
Credits: In general, a course that spans one semester is worth three credits while a two-semester course is worth six credits. Full-time students may register for a maximum of 15 credits in each of the fall and winter terms. Engineering programs may require more than 30 credits.
Full and part-time status is based on the number of credits you complete each term. Students who take 12 or more credits in a term are considered full-time, whereas students who take less than 12 credits in a term are part-time.
This grading system applies to all courses offered by the Department of Art History. A+ 90-100. A 85-89. A- 80-84. B+ 77-79.
2.0You must maintain a certain annual GPA in order to be considered in good standing and continue to study in your program. Generally, this is a minimum of 2.0 (out of 4.3). In addition, annual GPA will only appear on your transcript after the grades for the Winter term come in.
The simple answer: you must complete 120 college credits to earn a bachelor's degree. That's about 40 classes, which most people assume you can complete in 4 years.
A major usually requires about 36 credits depending on the requirements of each university. A college degree such as a bachelor's degree is usually 120 credits, which includes the 36 credits of your major along with additional courses to provide you with a broad, interdisciplinary education.
Depending on your academic background, the average undergraduate program at Concordia takes three or four years to complete. This table shows the time required to complete an undergraduate program at Concordia. Estimates are based on you taking a full course load.
Lecture 3, Lab. 2. Experiments, lectures and discussions to reveal the sensibleness of nature via mechanics of particles and waves as models, relativity and conservation laws, momentum and energy, and the nature of scientific inquiry.
Lecture 3, Lab. 2. Continuation of PHYS 111 with special emphasis on electricity and magnetism, light, and relativity and their relation to conservation principles and current scientific explanation.
Lecture 1. A calculus-based treatment of topics covered in PHYS 111. Enrollment in PHYS 211 and PHYS 111 is equivalent to taking a calculus-based general physics course.
Lecture 1. A calculus-based treatment of topics covered in PHYS 112. Enrollment in PHYS 212 and PHYS 112 is equivalent to taking a calculus-based general physics course.
Lecture 3. Physics of the 20th century. Relativity, the wave–particle duality, atomic models, the quantum theory.
Study of nuclear radiations, nuclear structure and models, and the energetics of sub-atomic particle interactions.
Capstone course in physics. Students perform supervised independent research in physics, and also learn about issues related to the profession.
Exceptions: Concordia requires scores of four or five on English and a score of five on music.
Students seeking a bachelor's degree must complete a minimum of 30 hours in residence, at least 15 of which must be in their major. College Level Advanced Placement (CLEP), Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and Military Credits are reviewed and considered for equivalent placement at Concordia.
The AP Music Theory has Aural Skills sub scores and Written Theory sub scores. The only scores for AP Music tests that are accepted are scores of five on the sub scores. A score of five on the Aural sub score will equal credit for Mu 102 Aural Skills I and Mu 104 Aural Skills II.
Concordia Nebraska recognizes the College Board's College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) credits, which allows students to take an exam to demonstrate their mastery of introductory college-level material and earn college credit.
Concordia University recognizes the academic rigor of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program and awards transfer credit to incoming students who have completed individual IB courses or the full IB Diploma. Concordia considers both Standard and High Level scores for credit on a course-by-course basis and also guarantees at least 24 but not more than 32 hours of credit to students who complete the IB Diploma program.
For course descriptions, please see the Undergraduate Calendar. All courses are in-person unless otherwise indicated.
PHYS 230 Experimental Physics I (3 credits) Prerequisite: Enrolment in a Physics program; PHYS 204, 205, 206, 224, 225, 226; or equivalent; nine credits in Physics previously or concurrently.
PHYS 232 Methods of Theoretical Physics I (3 credits) Prerequisite: MAST 218 previously or concurrently.
PHYS 200 Frontiers in Physics – Without Mathematics (3 credits, online) Department Note: Cannot be used to satisfy the “3 PHYS credits chosen with an academic advisor” requirement.
Typically for students in the 120-credit Extended Credit Program (ECP), some 30-credit certificate programs, as well as students having any of these courses listed as “deficiencies” on their letter of admission. Also offered as general interest courses for students not doing a BSc.
AP Physics 1 is an algebra-based, introductory college-level physics course. Students cultivate their understanding of physics through classroom study, in-class activity, and hands-on, inquiry-based laboratory work as they explore concepts like systems, fields, force interactions, change, conservation, and waves.
Laboratory experience must be part of the education of AP Physics students and should be included in all AP Physics courses . Colleges may require students to present their laboratory materials from AP science courses before granting college credit for laboratory, so students are encouraged to retain their laboratory notebooks, reports, and other materials.
