The Structured English Immersion (SEI) Classroom content is a minimum of four hours daily of English Language Development (ELD). ELD is a type of instruction that has as its orientation the teaching of English language skills to students who are in the process of learning English.

Courses Currently Approved to Meet the SEI Endorsement Requirement: The following courses are approved by the Arizona State Board of Education to meet the SEI Endorsement requirement starting after September 25, 2017 and only until December 31, 2021.
The revised SEI Course Framework has been approved by the State Board of Education, on September 28, 2020. ADE’s online SEI Course is currently being revised to align with the SEI Course Frameworks.
All Public School teachers working with English learners delivering required minutes of the SEI models are required to have an ESL, BIL, or SEI Endorsement.
This graduate course of study affords educators the opportunity to investigate the context for English language learner (ELL) education in Massachusetts and the implications of federal and state legislation regarding equitable access to curricula, informed sheltered English immersion practices and instruction, and administration and interpretation of assessment of diverse ELLs.
There are five overarching learning goals for this course: 1.
PREREQUISITE: Participants must have access to students during the course.
Twelve Zoom Instructor Led Synchronous Sessions: 3.25 Hours with One Fifteen-Minute Break. There will be a one-hour break for lunch for same day sessions.
Synchronous: In addition to the instructor led Zoom sessions as scheduled above, participants will be afforded scheduled chat sessions for collaborative coaching, Zoom session conferencing scheduled through a shared Google Doc, a Discussion Parking Lot to post questions, collaborative viewing of completed checks for understanding through a shared Google Documents Folder, scheduled Discussion Forums, and Zoom Capstone Unit presentations..
