Applicants must be admitted formally to a certificate program before beginning graduate course work. Depending on the program, 12 to 15 credits must be taken at NYU School of Engineering to earn a certificate, and no transfer credits for certificates are permitted.

If you fail a class, you'll get a 0 on your transcript — and that can bring down your GPA. Failed classes count toward your GPA, though some colleges do not count pass/fail classes in your GPA calculation. If you get an F, you still have to pay for the class without receiving any credit toward your degree.
How It Works. You don't so much take an Incomplete as ask for one. The procedure is pretty straightforward: you need to discuss the possibility with your instructor by the last day of class. The MSIS Program is a master's degree combining computer science courses at Courant (Graduate School of Arts and Science {GSAS}) and business courses at the Stern School of Business.

Students who intend to withdraw from their program at the School of Engineering must submit a Total Withdrawal request via Albert Student Center. Requests must be approved by the Office of Academic Affairs (undergraduate) or the Office of Graduate Academics (graduate). If an enrolled student totally withdraws from the School of Engineering prior to the Withdrawal Deadline, s/he will receive W grades. Mere absence from courses does not constitute official withdrawal, and failure to submit the appropriate forms by the published deadline will result in F grades for courses not completed.
Your appeal must include an explanatory essay and be approved by your academic advisor and the Director of Academic Affairs.
It is important to be aware that declaring a second major will likely increase a students’ time to completion at NYU and can impact financial aid. Enroll in or drop/withdraw from a School of Engineering course when you cannot do so online for special circumstances. This form may be used for audit requests (graduate students) and variable credit course permission (undergraduate and graduate students). Exceptions such as enrollment in closed classes or the waiving of course pre- or co-requisites can be processed by registering in Albert Student Center with a permission number obtained from the pertinent department.

First year classes typically run on Thursdays and second year classes on Wednesdays.
The maximum number of six credit hours is allowed for non-degree study, before matriculation in a degree program. There are no exceptions to this rule.
