Barry County Sheriff’s deputies report a car driven by an 85-year-old Hastings man turning left failed to yield to an oncoming car driven by a 59-year-old man, also from Hastings. The 85-year-old had no passengers; the other car carried four passengers.#N#“Neither driver and none of the passengers appeared to have debilitation or life-threatening injuries; however, all were transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Butterworth for further medical evaluation,” the sheriff’s office news release said.#N#Deputies found the 85-year-old very confused and his family confirmed he suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and had voluntarily surrendered his driver’s license to the Secretary of State in 2016.#N#The incident remains under investigation.
