A.A. General Studies

The Associate in Arts degree is designed to prepare students with the courses needed for the freshman and sophomore levels of a bachelor’s degree. Upon completion, students have the choice of transferring to a four-year college or university.

How long does it take to withdraw from a course?

Withdrawal exceptions must be submitted within one year of the last day of the term for which the student is submitting an appeal.

What is SOAR in college?

All first-time-in-college students have a orientation hold and are required to complete Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR), which is comprised of a self-guided, online portion (SOAR 1) and a live, group advising session (SOAR 2). The orientation hold will be removed after the completion of SOAR.

How many hours are required for dual enrollment?

Dual Enrollment students are limited to 9 credit hours (fall and spring) and 7 credit hours (summer). Early Admissions students are full-time LSSC students taking 12-18 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters. The student is not permitted to take any courses at the high school or online via Florida Virtual.

What happens if you withdraw from a course?

If you withdraw from a course, you will only be permitted to take that one course in the subsequent semester. For example, if you withdraw from ENC1101 in the fall semester, you will only be permitted to take ENC1101 in the spring semester.

When is the commencement ceremony in Lakehawk?

Commencement ceremonies are held in December (for those graduating in Summer and Fall terms), and in May (for those graduating in the Spring term). Students must apply for graduation and will receive information regarding the commencement ceremony in their official student email (Lakehawk mail).

Does Federal Aid pay for LSSC?

Federal aid will only pay for classes that are required for the LSSC degree program that you are currently enrolled in. You may log on to Degree works located on Lois->Student tab->Degree works to determine if your enrolled courses are required for your LSSC degree program.

Does LSSC allow tuition refunds?

However, LSSC allows the full refund (100%) of tuition and fees in cases of serious circumstances beyond the student’s control that occur prior to the mid-point (50% of instructional days) of the semester and prevent the student from completing the semester.
