Graduation credit requirements, outlined in detail below, include the following: a minimum of 120 credits, 42 of which need to be upper-division. Thirty of the 42 upper-division need to be taken "in residence" at CSU. And, 15 of the last 30 credits need to be taken "in residence".

Written communication is typically a component of at least one required general education class in college programs. Composition courses includes various types of writing assignments, including narrative, essay, short story and poetry.
Under provisions of Title 5 and Executive Order 1100, accredited colleges and universities may certify the completion of part of the 48 units required in general education. Within the policy of the Board of Trustees, Cal State Fullerton will accept such certification of general education up to a maximum of 39 semester units, but may accept no more in general education than the number of units required in each area.

A student should have earned at least 85 units and a substantial portion of the major requirements before requesting a graduation check. In completing the requirements for a minor, a minimum of 12 units, of which at least six must be upper-division, must be distinct and different from the units used to complete the requirements of the major.
A minor is a means by which students can enrich their academic preparation through concentrated study of a discipline related to, or different from, their declared major. Although students can pursue multiple majors, many decide that declaring a major and a minor is a more desirable choice.
CSU general education requirements (“Golden Four”) are designated as oral communication, written communication, critical thinking, and mathematics/quantitative reasoning. Transfer applicants applying for fall term must complete the Golden Four courses no later than the end of the spring term.
The CSU requires that first-time freshman applicants complete, with grades of C- or better, a comprehensive pattern of college preparatory study totaling 15 units. A “unit” is one year of study in high school.
Section 89030.7 of the California Education Code requires that the CSU establishes specific requirements for appeal procedures for a denial of admission. Each CSU campus must publish appeal procedures for applicants denied admission to the university. The procedure is limited to addressing campus decisions to deny an applicant admission to the university.
Generally, applicants will qualify for consideration for first-time freshman admission if they meet the following requirements: Have graduated from high school, have earned a Certificate of General Education Development (GED) or have passed the California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE);
The CSU will accept “Credit” or “Pass” grades to satisfy “a-g” requirements completed during Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall 2020 terms and during Winter, Spring or Summer 2021 terms. The CSU expects and assumes that high school Pass (Credit) grades will represent work completed at the C- or higher level.
Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to complete college preparatory course requirements. If a qualified applicant is judged unable to fulfill a specific course requirement because of a disability, alternative college preparatory courses may be substituted for specific subject requirements.
Applicants will be unable to move between majors without meeting the initial impacted major GPA requirement. Change of major is not permitted after an applicant submits an application for fall or spring consideration. Cal State Fullerton does not use alternative major for admission consideration.
