Know the Basics. When we use the word 'vocabulary', we mean the words we hear, use, and understand. They can be divided into two categories: receptive vocabulary, which are words we hear and read, and expressive vocabulary, which are words we speak and write.

In the United States, most universities implement a course numbering system where each course is identified by the name of the major (or an abbreviation thereof) followed by a 3- or 4-digit number − for example, CS 123. This common numbering system was designed to make transfer between colleges easier. In theory, any numbered course in one academic institution should bring a student to the same standard as a similarly numbered course at other institutions.
If you or your organization is interested in language testing, there are quite a few language tests available: ACTFL, DELE (for Spanish), DALF (for French), TOEFL (for those going into English-speaking college, take this to prove your English level) and TOEIC (for those going into an English-speaking job position , take this to prove your high level of fluency in a competitive global job market). But each one will test for a specific set of skills. So you can take an English course for the skills you need for your job, or you can prepare for the test, and learn things that might not be applicable to your work and life. The predicament with each of these is that you might (like I did) get a different result with each one of them. I took the DELE and the ACTFL, and I got very different scores (although this is not everyone’s experience). So if you’re going to see if you’ve improved, take the same test again at the end of your course, so you can compare apples with apples.

So language arts include the four main components of. Listening, Reading, Speaking, and. Writing.
That’s it. Nothing scary or intimidating. Just learning how to communicate ideas through language. You’ve been teaching language arts to your children naturally since they were born.
