Applied Biological Systems is a full year high school course with a strong emphasis on hands on, experiential learning. The course presents basic biological principals with a focus on Agricultural Management Practices and Conservation Biology.

Advanced Life Science: Plants and Soils is a two semester course that provides students with opportunities to participate in a variety of activities including laboratory work. Students study concepts, principles, and theories associated with plants and soils.
Biotechnology 1-2 is a course designed to give students a comprehensive introduction to the scientific concepts and laboratory research techniques currently used in the field of biotechnology. Students attain knowledge about the field of biotechnology and deeper understanding of the biological concepts used. In addition, students develop the laboratory, critical thinking, and communication skills currently used in the biotechnology industry. Furthermore, students will explore and evaluate career opportunities in the field of biotechnology through extensive readings, laboratory experiments, class discussions, research projects, guest speakers, and workplace visits. The objectives covered in this course are both academic and technical in nature and are presented in a progressively rigorous manner.
Scientific progress is made by asking meaningful questions and conducting careful investigations. As a basis for understanding this concept and addressing the content in the other four strands, students should develop their own questions and perform investigations. Students will:
Students understand health and safety policies, procedures, regulations, and practices, including the use of equipment and handling of hazardous materials. 6.1 Know the policies, procedures, and regulations regarding health and safety in the workplace, including employers’ and employees’ responsibilities.
Students must pass all exams with a score of 80% or higher. Students who score lower than 80% on any examination will be assigned mandatory tutorial sessions during their free period. Students must maintain a complete and accurate scientific notebook.
