Assessment Icons

Courses may contain several types of assessments depending on the grade level and subject. Each type of assessment has an associated icon. Lessons and units containing assessments are marked with the appropriate assessment type icon in the Grade Book, on the course tree, and on the Planner.

Additional Testing

In addition to assessments in courses, students may be required to take several other types of assessments. At the state level, every student in the public school system is required to participate in standardized testing.

Description of Assessment Types

The table below gives a description of each type of assessment, along with the assessment's icon. Not all assessment types are found in all courses.

Progress Reports

A progress report provides a snapshot of a student's Grade Book up to a designated point in the school year and is commonly thought of as a report card. Unlike traditional report cards though, progress reports show a student's progress over an entire school year rather than just a single quarter or semester.

Assessment Objective Performance Details

Each course includes objectives associated with the course's assessment questions. A student's scores on these assessment questions indicate how well he or she has mastered the associated objective.

Transcripts

A transcript is an official record of a student's completed coursework and grades supplied by the student's school. Unlike a progress report, which shows a student's academic information for a given school year, transcripts provide information about the student's entire academic history.

Overview

The Lesson Viewer window is divided into two sections. On the left are the Course Outline and Course Tools, where students access all the lessons and units in a course. On the right is the content area, which displays the content of the selected lesson or unit.

Rating Lessons

The StarTrack lesson rating system allows students to rate their lessons. The rating tool, which consists of five yellow stars followed by a cartoon word bubble, appears in the bottom right corner of the lesson content area.
