CHL Course The online Oregon Concealed Handgun License (CHL) handgun safety training program, offered by the Oregon State Sheriffs' Association, promotes gun safety while supporting sheriff’s offices. OSSA and Oregon sheriffs believe in, and take an oath to uphold, the Constitutions of the State of Oregon and the United States of America.
LTC / CHL Class Curriculum. Instructor Michael Cargill is a certified* LTC instructor in the State of Texas and has many years of experience training others in the proper safety and use of firearms. He is an NRA Instructor as well as an NRA Recruiter. He is an active Texas State Rifle Association member and Recruiter.
The NRA classes all require a live fire test. These classes typically have .22LR pistols to qualify with, but also allow you to shoot the firearm you choose to bring. Some states do mandate you qualify with the caliber of or firearm you will be concealed carrying.
The instructor is your range officer, as well as the employees that work at the range if you’re at a privately owned range. You’ll be taught many range commands in a concealed carry class. Be sure to listen to all of their commands! They are actively looking for students who listen and follow the rules of firearm safety.
A Michigan CPL for a new applicant costs $100 plus a $15 fee paid to the fingerprinting entity. Licenses last five years. The renewal fee is $115. Both amounts changed as a result of a law that went into effect in 2015.
8 hoursThe CPL class must be a minimum of 8 hours long, including 5 hours of classroom instruction and 3 hours of range time and safety training. Most CPL classes are taught as one 8 hour day, although the actual time might be over 8 hours factoring in lunch breaks and questions.
In contrast, “CCW” stands for Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and is the criminal statute (MCL 750.22) that prohibits carrying a weapon (including a handgun) in a concealed fashion (on the person or in the vehicle) without obtaining a CPL permit.

You can open carry in Michigan as long as you are eighteen years old and do not have any state or federal prohibition to possess firearms. You also do not need a permit to open carry in the state, except if you are a non-resident.
A person who has been found guilty of a crime but mentally ill will not be allowed a CPL. A person who has been found guilty but mentally insane is ineligible. A person may not be given a CPL if at the time of their application there is an assessment that they present a danger to others or themselves.
Michigan recognizes resident permits from all states, regardless of the age of the license holder. Residents must have a Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL) in order to carry in the state.
Handguns cannot be borrowed or loaned to another person other than provided for under the CPL. While in the field, handguns must be carried in plain view. Carrying a handgun in a holster in plain view is permitted.

Point Blank CHL is the firearms instructor certification training center of Texas. We hold more firearms instructor certification courses than anyone in Texas. People travel from all across Texas to take our firearms instructor certification courses.
NRA Basic Pistol Instructor. This is the certification that is needed in Texas to become a Texas license to carry instructor. It’s also needed in most other states to teach license to carry, CCW course in that state.
There is no limit to the amount of training you should do with your concealed carry gear. Practice drawing your pistol from concealment with an unloaded firearm. Work on fundamentals when you’re at the shooting range. If you range allows it, start training to draw your loaded pistol from concealment and firing shots at a target. In a self-defense situation, you have seconds to react and fire a shot, in a worst-case scenario. Always train to react calmly in high-stress situations and carry with a round in the chamber ready to go.

First-time shooters in a beginner pistol class will learn state laws, basic firearm safety rules, proper shooting stances, parts of a pistol, how to clean a pistol, and more. These are things that you learn in a basic class.

Proper shooting clothing includes closed-toe shoes, pants with a belt to facilitate holster wear, and a shirt with sleeves and closure around the neck. I would highly recommend wearing clothing that you plan to wear regularly and carry concealed in. This class will give you the opportunity to get a feel for what real life will be like. Ask the instructor if you’ll be at an indoor or outdoor range for the shooting portion.
