Students will not see their D2L course until the Start Date has arrived and students no longer see the D2L course after the End Date has arrived. Generally, courses open 5 days before the start of the term and close 10 days after the end of the term. Faculty often adjust these dates to something that suits their class a little better.
By default, final grades that are kept within D2L are not released to students automatically. You must consciously choose when you are ready for students to see the final grade in D2L. You'll see a hidden icon within the Enter Grades area under the Final Calculated Grade area until you release those grades.
To have D2L calculate those final calculated grades under Enter Grades when you see zeros down that column, click the Settings option in the Grades area (to the far right top). Then click the Calculation Options tab (3rd tab). At the bottom of the page there is a Auto Update option to " Automatically keep final grades updated ".
Often when changes are made to the quiz setup after the quiz has been made active or after some students have already taken the quiz, D2L will become confused because a change was made and will stop sending grades for a quiz into the gradebook.
Sometimes when looking at the Quiz/Grades, a student name will not show up and the student will say that they started an attempt but something went wrong while they were working.
When a quiz has a question where either the correct answer was not marked or when you might want to give credit for another answer choice (s) because the question was poorly worded, you may want to adjust the scoring on a quiz that used that question.
Some students may need extra time on a quiz or may need to take a quiz during a different set of dates because of life circumstances.
Check the syllabus for the preferred way to communicate with the instructor and use that method to communicate. If using email within D2L is the preferred method, click the course name, then click communication/classlist, then click the instructor's name to compose and send an email.
To send an email within D2L: Click Communication and then Classlist to be presented with the names of fellow students and the instructor of each course. Click the instructor name to send an email to the instructor. Click another student's name to send an email to them. Email sent this way will be housed within D2L. It isn't possible to use the email feature in D2L to send email outside of D2L. Recipients will need to check their D2L email inbox to find your email. (Note: Use your mtmail instead of your D2L email to send email to @mtsu.edu or @mtmail.mtsu.edu addresses.)

Students register for MTSU online courses as they would a traditional, on-campus course through the online portal PipelineMT. However, some courses may require completion of a Permission of Department (POD) form prior to registration.

Calculation of the GPA for receipt of the scholarship does not include credits earned prior to high school graduation and is subject to the Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship course repeat policy.
This program brings college courses to students at home, in the library, in the office, or on the road. Courses completed in the program are entirely online.
The University shall not permit access to, or the release of, any information in the education records of any student that is personally identifiable, other than directory information, without the written consent of the student.
Academic Advising. Each student is assigned to the academic department or school which corresponds to his or her major area of study. A student with an undeclared major must seek advising in the University College Advising Center (UCAC). The head of the department or school will in turn assign a faculty advisor to the student.
A student is expected to attend each class for which he/she is registered except in cases of unavoidable circumstances and should not attend classes for which he/she is not officially registered.
Courses numbered 1000-1999 are on the first year or freshman level; 2000-2999 on the second year or sophomore level; 3000-3999 on the third year or junior level; 4000-4999 on the fourth year or senior level; 5000 and above on the graduate level. Course numbers defined as basic or developmental are not acceptable as degree credit work.
Credit Hour Unit. A credit hour unit is one hour of classroom or direct faculty instruction and a minimum of two hours of out-of-class student work each week for 15 weeks, or equivalent academic activities, to achieve the student learning outcomes for the credit hour.

Go to Communications > Classlist > Email Classlist. Click “Send Email” to compose your message and then click “Send” at the top when done. Optionally, use Communications > Classlist > select checkbox by students and click the Email icon/link above the list.
A: There are multiple ways to add content into D2L. Start by selecting a module where you want to add content: , The easiest way is to drag Word Documents, PowerPoint Files, PDFs and the like directly into the module to the dotted area until it turns green. You can also use the New button to upload files, create a file, create a link, etc. To delete, use the pull down option by the item’s title. To update, select “Change File” from the pull down options. Drag and drop the updated file and click Update.
A: The default submission view will appear to users after they submit a quiz. By default, only the date of submission and score are made available. The default view and/or additional views can be changed in the quiz settings.
