I bring this up because it's also a rule at most races, whether written or implied, that you can't run without a bib, the piece of paper bearing your competitor's number that you pin to your shirt; it signifies that you went through the proper channels—and paid the money—to officially register for the race.Apr 24, 2012
No. Per our event rules: Sale and/or transfer of race entries/bib numbers is strictly prohibited and will result in the disqualification and/or banning of any individuals involved from future events. All entry fees are non-refundable.
Don't worry—just run shirtless. We've all seen a lot worse (and, frankly, a lot better).Feb 6, 2018
I always find it easier to position the bib as I'm wearing it. Some people like to put the bib on their shirt before they put it on, but I think it's harder to position it in the right spot when you do it that way. In my opinion, it's also difficult to put on a shirt that has a bib already on it.
Music devices with headphones are permitted for use on the course; however, participants must be alert to their surroundings at all times and must pay attention to important announcements made in Grant Park and along the course.
Guaranteed entry applications. The Bank of America Chicago Marathon offers several opportunities for individuals to access a guaranteed Chicago Marathon entry. In order to gain access to a guaranteed entry, applicants must agree to the terms of the entry or qualify for the entry.
Course Completion: If you have not completed the entire course, you will be disqualified. Participants with missing or irregular split times at official timing checkpoints will be reviewed and may be disqualified.
The NYC Marathon isn't just for elite runners either. Many participants are handicap athletes participating in wheelchairs or on handcycles (high-tech, hand-driven tricycles). Others simply walk it. But before you can run the NYC Marathon, you have to get in.
Wear bib somewhere on your front side (NEVER ON THE BACK). If you are being manually timed you may be viewed as a bandit at the finish, if being chip timed and your chip does not read, they do not always read, then a camera if being used to view any missed bibs will never see yours.
DON'T wear race shirts from races you didn't run. DO race a marathon shirtless if it's hot and it makes you feel great. DON'T worry about what anyone else is wearing, you've got enough to focus on.

Race bibs are quite simply a piece of paper pinned to the front and back of a runner's vest. As shown above, besides race numbers, this paper displays: The runner's unique participant number (A) Their name (B)
