What is medcerts certification?

I am a medical coder. I have never done anything on the billing side, so I don't know if this happens a lot or not. We got the results from an outside audit company and it was noted in the auditor's comments that for one procedure, a different CPT code was billed out than the one I used. The one I used was correct according to the auditor.

Sorry this is more like a declaration lol but after finally gathering all the funds I needed today I am finally going to enroll in the AAPC’s CPC training program. I do have the finish the prerequisites first like medical terminology and anatomy because I have no prior medical experience but I am excited!

I am planning to hire a biller for someone who sees 30-60 patients a week. This would be my first time looking for one - any tips or recommendations on how to find a quality medical biller? Bill would be very straightforward (simple initial consults and follow ups w an occasional procedure).

If you billed insurance initially, can't you re-bill it again if something changes? Something's fishy...I think

Hey Everybody! I used to do some medical billing in the chiropractic world but it was years ago and a world away--a whole ICD iteration away. I ran into a situation where I think I know the answer...but I don't remember the reason.

time to responding to emails

I feel like whenever it came to emails and getting back to me, was poorly done. I’m still waiting on a response and it’s been almost 3 weeks. I feel like there should be a time limit on responding to students emails. Playing the waiting game isn’t cutting it for me.

The human anatomy portion was great

The human anatomy portion was great. However, getting to the testing after the course is over & finding out you didn't cover a min of 60% of what's on the tests was humbling, frustrating & a bit maddening. Ex: audit error codes & procedures, collection procedures, 2 digit CPT codes, operative reports etc.

Potentially good opportunity!

Great opportunity for people with little to no college background or work experience. The Medical Front Office Assistant and Administration Specialist program I took had very outdated information (questions about floppy discs and 3+ years irrelevant Tricare information FOR STARTERS), so I did not feel confident or comfortable pursuing the certification.
