Instructor option grading allows the instructor to determine whether Traditional or Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading is to be used for a course. In courses approved for instructor option grading, the type of grading (Traditional or Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory) to be used for all students in the course during the term is to be indicated on the course syllabus.
At the discretion of the instructor, a temporary grade of “I” may be given to a student who demonstrates it is not possible to complete the requirements of a course due to circumstances beyond the student’s control and not reasonably foreseeable. A student must be passing a course at the time an incomplete is requested unless the instructor determines there are extenuating circumstances to assign an incomplete to a student who is not passing the course. When an instructor assigns an “I”, the instructor shall specify in writing the requirements the student shall fulfill to complete the course as well as the reasons for granting an “I” when the student is not passing the course. The instructor shall retain a copy of this statement in the grade records and provide copies to the student and the department head or designee. Students will be notified to take action on Incomplete grades at the beginning of their anticipated graduation term. The student should not register for the course again to complete the coursework. After successful completion of the makeup requirements, incomplete grades will be changed by the instructor of record or the department head, in absence of the instructor of record. After one year, or at the end of the semester in which the student graduates (whichever comes first), an Incomplete will be automatically changed to an “F” (failure) or a "U" (unsatisfactory) unless the course has been previously completed and a grade change submitted by the instructor or the head of the department. If the class for which the student has been given an Incomplete is S/U only, the grade shall revert to a "U"; if it is a traditionally graded class, it shall revert to an "F". If a course is instructor option and S/U grades exist, the Incomplete will roll to a "U". If only traditional grades ("A" thru "F") exist, the Incomplete will roll to an "F". The assignment of semester credit is based on requirements set by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and corresponds to Carnegie Unit Guidelines. Students should expect to spend a minimum of 10-25 hours per week, per course, engaged in reading, interacting on the discussion boards, writing papers, completing projects, and doing research.

The 25th percentile New SAT score is 1090, and the 75th percentile New SAT score is 1280. In other words, a 1090 on the New SAT places you below average, while a 1280 will move you up to above average.
The acceptance rate at CSU is 81.4%. For every 100 applicants, 81 are admitted. This means the school is lightly selective. The school will have their expected requirements for GPA and SAT/ACT scores. If you meet their requirements, you're almost certain to get an offer of admission.
Every school requires an application with the bare essentials - high school transcript and GPA, application form, and other core information. Many schools, as explained above, also require SAT and ACT scores, as well as letters of recommendation, application essays, and interviews.

Each student must prepare a Program of Study, a document which lists all courses taken in pursuit of the degree. This is the formal statement of what is done to achieve the degree, the summary of all academic planning. The advisor and the committee are heavily involved in the development of the Program of Study. The Program of Study must be filed with the Graduate School before the time of the fourth regular semester registration. Students who fail to meet this requirement may be denied subsequent registration. For Integrated Degree Program (IDP) Admission students, program of study forms ( GS Form 6) must be filed by the end of the second week of the students’ first semester after admission to Graduate School. Courses listed and approved on this form for graduate requirements will be automatically excluded from the undergraduate degree program of the student. The Graduate School reviews each program of study ( GS Form 6) and determines whether the program of study conforms to University policy. That is, an early graduation check is performed. Problems are reported to students so that they can be corrected at an early date.
Once admitted to a graduate program, grades earned in courses 300 level and above will be considered in computing the graduate GPA. Standards and requirements for off-campus graduate study are the same as those standards and requirements on campus.
The student should manage such matters independently. The committee must consist of at least three faculty members for a master’s degree program and at least four for a doctoral degree program.
Modifications must be formally recorded, however, and the advisor, department head, and the Graduate School must approve. Courses which have been taken and for which a grade has been received (A through F, I, S or U) may not be removed from the Program of Study.
Plan C master’s students are required to have an advisor but not a committee. The advisor is identified and the committee is appointed through filing a GS Form 6 with the Graduate School. It is the student’s responsibility to identify an advisor and a committee, all of whom are willing and qualified to serve.
A grade point average of at least 2.0 overall is required across all courses taken to complete the minor program (including transfer courses). Programs may impose additional grade requirements (e.g. a program may require a minimum grade of “C” in all courses applied to the minor). ( SP 12-01)
For the Bachelor of Arts degree, the major must contain a minimum of 24 units with at least 12 upper-division units. For the Bachelor of Science degree, the major must contain a minimum of 36 units with at least 18 upper-division units.
After Graduation Evaluators verify completion of all degree requirements, a diploma is normally available within four months of final clearance. Proof of graduation is available by requesting official transcripts from the Office of the Registrar.
It is student specific and will display requirements you have met and requirements you have yet to meet using internal credit (CI courses) and external credit (transfer, military and test credit). When you have not met a requirement, the report will list course options that will meet the requirement.
At least 24 of these 30 units must be upper-division coursework, and 12 of the 30 units must be in the major. At least nine units of Upper Division General Education (UDGE) courses of the required 48 GE units must be completed in-residence at CI.
Commencement is held annually at the end of the spring semester. Students who have completed degree or credential requirements the previous summer or fall terms are eligible to participate in the ceremony along with those who plan to complete their work in the spring or subsequent summer ending August 31, and have filed an Application for Degree and Diploma . Names of graduates and degree candidates who have applied for graduation by the published deadline will be published in the Commencement Program. Students who do not wish to have their names published in the Commencement Program may opt out by filing a Request to Withhold Directory Information form with the Office of the Registrar.
Application for Graduation. The Application for Degree and Diploma and filing fee are required for students expecting to graduate. Commencement participation does not constitute proof of the successful completion of degree requirements. The application for degree is available on the Office of the Registrar web page.
