On November 1, 1996, Gary Triano was killed when a pipe bomb exploded in his car at the La Paloma Country Club in Catalina Foothills, Arizona. Within weeks, the investigation centered around his ex-wife Pamela Phillips, who was still living in Aspen.
After a round of golf at La Paloma, Gary Triano returned to his car. The explosion killed him and scattered pieces of the auto for hundreds of feet.

Tucson, AZ – On this date, Lee Trevino scored a birdie 3 on the first extra hole of a sudden‐death playoff to beat Bob Murphy for the $20, 000 first prize in the $100,000 Tucson open golf tournament. Murphy had victory in his grasp on the 18th hole but missed a putt of about three feet and took a bogey 5.
In both trials, prosecutors alleged the motive for Triano's murder was a $2 million insurance policy. This year in Phillips' seven-week long trial, her defense team argued that Phillips and Young were innocent of the crime.
Pima County Judge Richard Fields was unfazed, expressing "great gratitude" to the jury which found Phillips guilty and contending that he had no "residual doubt" about the verdict before imposing the natural life sentence.
Prosecutor Rick Unklesbay urged the judge to give Phillips the maximum sentence explaining that he had wrestled with deciding which of the two convicted killers committed a "worse" crime.

Patrick and Christina were married in Tucson . They eventually moved away. After the couple was divorced, Christina moved back to Tucson. Patrick was apprehended while he was flying to Tucson to murder his wife. A book was written about this called Deadly Intentions, this book was later made into a television movie.
On July 18, 1989 Robert John Bardo (from Tucson) murdered Rebecca Schaeffer. Schaeffer was the star of a television series called My Sister Sam. Robert John Bardo had become obsessed with her. He had a private detective locate her address. Bardo left Tucson and traveled to California where he shot and killed Schaeffer at her home in West Hollywood.
Pied Piper of Tucson--Serial Murderer Charles Schmid. Serial murderer Charles Schmid was arrested November 11, 1965 and convicted of murdering three Tucson girls in March 1966. Time, Life, and Newsweek articles appeared in March 1966. There is a book written about this crime titled the Pied Piper of Tucson.

The Roy Dye version (Mummy Mountain then Anasazi) was totally bulldozed and redone by Art Hills. That is what is in play today as far as I know.
Any idea why they bulldozed and started over on such a "young" course at the time? Flooding issues with the original layout? Needed more room to fit in development surrounding the course? Too tough?
So I made edits to the list with your guys' help and then found a couple more blanks.
