TatooineThe Mos Espa podrace circuit was a podracing course located on Tatooine. Encircling Ben's Mesa near Mos Espa, the circuit formed the race track for the annual Boonta Eve Classic held by the Hutt Clan.
The cockpit was attached to the massive motors by Steelton control cables. The racer could reach breakneck speeds in the area of 947 kilometers an hour (588 mph), earning its title of the fastest podracer in the galaxy.
A momentary vision of Sebulba hammering on his stabilizer just before the start of the race flashed through Anakin's mind. He eased off on the thruster bars, jettisoned the stabilizer, and switched to an auxiliary mount. In the process, he was forced to give way.Feb 7, 2012

SebulbaUnfortunately for Jar Jar, this Dug was even more bad-tempered than most members of his species – he was Sebulba, the arrogant, vicious podracer pilot who was the reigning champion of the Outer Rim circuit. Anakin Skywalker intervened and saved Jar Jar, warning Sebulba that the Gungan was an important outlander.
The wreck paved the way to victory lane for Skywalker, which earned the boy his freedom from slavery. Sebulba survived his wreck and continued to race into the Clone Wars.
Even though it is almost certainly not Anakin's podracer, it is still a winking acknowledgment from the creatives behind The Mandalorian to the long-term fans of the Star Wars franchise. It also helps reinforce the world of Tatooine as one that is behind the times in comparison to the rest of the galactic society.

AFTER THE RACE. After the pod race, there are some congratulations and then Anakin and Shmi are left behind. Remember, Anakin does not know he is free until Qui-Gon returns for him. So for now, this is goodbye until Qui-Gon returns the Eopies. Here’s the excerpt from the Episode I Illustrated Screenplay:
During the Pod Race in Episode I , there were supposed to be some shots of maintenance or salvage droids who are deployed during the race to clean up debris from the various crashes.
In Episode I, there’s a scene where Anakin, Padmé, Kitster and Shmi arrive at the Pod Race Arena Hangar on camel-like Eopies. R2-D2 and C-3PO are following behind dragging Anakin’s Pod. What we don’t see in the film is what took place previously where Kitster brings the Eopies to Anakin’s backyard and Artoo is busy painting the Pod. Anakin is sleeping and has another of his prophetic dreams. The scene takes place at dawn, after Darth Maul arrives on Tatooine.
The idea was that the Trade Federation had the Battle Droids created in their image, hence the elongated heads of the Battle Droids. Some time later, George Lucas decided to use the green-skinned Duros from the Episode IV cantina scenes as the inspiration for the Neimoidians instead.
Like Podracer droids, they can be identified by their mushroom-shaped caps. I believe that by “Podracer Droids” they mean Pit Droids. The salvage droids can be seen on the Episode I DVD in the cut scenes section. You’ll have to watch the EXTENDED POD RACE: LAP TWO scene and look for them.
T-bone Cut Scenes, The Phantom Menace. The Boonta Eve Podrace from Episode I is definitely a highlight of the film, especially after George Lucas decided to extend and improve it in the subsequent video releases. No matter how much he expands it, however, deleted shots remain.
There was a line in the Return of the Jedi novelization where Obi-Wan says, “My pride had terrible consequences for the galaxy.”. Obi-Wan could sense this way back in beginning, but he could not stop it. Little did he know that his actions would trigger a lot of those “problems of the universe.”.

Pod racers move pretty quickly, hitting speeds up to 700 miles an hour while they make their way around the track. It's no wonder Anakin needed his Jedi reflexes to get him through the race.
Sebulba isn't one to play by the rules but rather make his own. Some illegal modifications to his pod include a flamethrower and a nail shooter, ensuring no one would get ahead of him in the races.
As many fans know Sebulba's pod loses control during the final lap when it latches on Anakin's. But many fans have wondered what actually happened to cause Sebulba's pod to break into pieces. The answer lies in the Steelton cable that kept his two engines intact, it was cut when it attached itself to Anakin's pod.
Pod racing was labeled illegal by the Republic mainly because of its dangerous nature and betting spectators engaged in. Since Tatooine sits in the Outer Rim the Republic has little say on what goes on, meaning the people are left to fend for themselves.
Sebulba's pod, however, can go upwards of 800 miles an hour, giving his pod an edge. Though, his pod is filled with illegal modifications that allow him to win almost every time.
4 First of His Name. You may have noticed most of the racers in the Boonta Eve Classic were aliens, it's for a reason. Anakin was the first human to enter the Boonta Eve pod race, it wasn't until much later other people followed suit.
After winning the race - and his freedom - Anakin's podracer is sold on for extra money, but it's unknown what happened next, making it entirely possible that the vehicle remained on Tatooine until it was salvaged for parts.
This article contains SPOILERS for The Mandalorian season 2, episode 1. In The Mandalorian season 2 premiere, Cobb Vanth rides a speeder bike that bears a striking resemblance to an engine from Anakin's podracer, suggesting the bike may have been built from its parts.
In The Mandalorian season 2 episode 1, Din Djarin and Cobb Vanth set out into the desert on speeder bikes. Djarin's is more or less the typical model seen across Star Wars media, while Vanth's appears to be built from a podracer engine - and specifically, one of the engine turbines from the podracer flown by Anakin Skywalker during The Phantom ...
Vanth, played by Timothy Olyphant, is a new character in The Mandalorian season 2 but not one new to Star Wars canon. There's also some red plating covering more of the engine, not to mention the seat now affixed to the side. However, these are modifications that could have been made to ...
