Certificates are not available for archived courses. Courses may re-appear, often in an updated version, after months or years of absence. You can Follow edX, the Institution, or the Subject for email announcements.
Access an Archived Course. You can enroll or continue to work in some courses even after the course end date. These courses are archived, which means that while you can access the course content, you cannot submit answers for graded problems or participate in course discussions.
After the course end date, as a verified learner, you will have access to archived course content and materials, as long it exists on edX.
With unlimited access and downloadable video files, edX courses are worth it if compared to the cost of attending it in person at the campus of a top school which starts at $70,000. If access to hundreds of quality courses from notable institutions at a low price is good enough, then edX is definitely worth it.
If you want access to a large array of skill-oriented business-related courses, you'll have a better chance with Coursera. However, while Coursera wins the quantity battle, edX provides slightly better quality. It's safe to say both platforms excel at technology and business courses. There's one key point to note.
If you wish to organize your All Courses page and remove a course from it, you can quickly do so by archiving it. Archiving a course moves it to the Archived page of your account, but does not prevent you from accessing it. Please note that archiving a course does not grant a refund.
As of mid January 2022, edX identity verification does not expire. Learners will only be asked to verify their identity if they have earned a certificate and then they make a significant change to their name in their Account settings.
