You can export a Canvas course to give to someone in another Canvas account, to upload to another institution's account at a later date, or to create a copy as a backup on your local computer. Exports are packaged as IMSCC ZIP files, which can only be opened by programs that support Common Cartridge files.

When you do a course export and see the "Your content has been exported " bar at the bottom, you will also see a link that says "New Export" above that. The "New Export" is the link to the export file. You must click on the link to download the file to your computer.

Instructors, TA or Course Designers can copy content and activities from one Canvas course site to another Canvas course site if they have an account on both sites.

If a course does not include modules but has the Modules button enabled, course content export packages will still include all course files, pages, and embedded files as long as the user has permission to view them .
Exported content does not expire, so it is recommend that you explain to students that they may not reproduce or communicate any of the content in your course, including files exported from your course, without your prior written permission if you do not want them to redistribute your course’s content.
