Drop individual classes in the Student Center via the Portal. After Add/Drop Period, a Class Drop Request (PDF) is required to drop a class. If you wish to drop all your classes for the semester as of the first day of the term, see Withdrawals.
Serious and Compelling Reasons An extended absence due to a death in the immediate family. This applies to absences exceeding a week due to family affairs that must be attended to by the student. A necessary change in employment status which interferes with the student's ability to attend class.
Upon your return from an approved leave you will not be required to complete a university admissions application. A leave may be granted for a maximum of two consecutive semesters excluding summer.
Students needing to drop all classes must complete a Term Withdrawal Form, and submit the form to the Registrar's Office. Term Withdrawal forms must be received no later than 10 calendar days after the end of the semester in which the withdrawal is requested.
A Superior work, a level of achievement so outstanding that it is normally attained by relatively few students. B Adequate work, a level of achievement indicating adequate competence in the subject matter/skill. This level or higher will usually be met by a majority of students in the class.
The student may utilize a repeat with forgiveness for an individual course no more than two times. Students may not petition to repeat at another institution a course that was originally taken at CSU, Chico.
Undergraduate students may repeat a maximum of 28 units. Graduate students may repeat courses in which they earned a grade of B- or lower. The repeated course grade will be averaged with all other grades in determining the grade point average for CSU, Chico and cumulative GPA.
Other schools outside the California State University system, including professional and graduate schools, may not honor this policy on repetition of courses with forgiveness. Veterans should consult the Office of Veterans Affairs to determine the impact of course repetition on their eligibility for benefits.
