Short Game

Dairy Creek also provides an acre of turf for your short game practice needs. This area is equipped with fairway and rough turf heights, two sand bunkers, and three pin locations. You can work on chip and pitch shots up to 20 yards and work your way up to 50‐yard wedge shots.

Putting Green

All great practice areas must have a place for players to practice their “putting for dough”. Dairy Creek’s 8,000 sq. ft. putting greens has nine different hole locations on varied terrain for perfecting your long lag putts or fine tuning those pesky three footers. This is also a fun spot to challenge your friends for a bit of a competition.

Cal Poly Practice Center

Dairy Creek is the home for Cal Poly Men’s and Women’s golf teams. The Cal Poly practice center is unique in that it allows players to practice by hitting various shots into actual USGA putting greens.

Where is Wes McKee coaching?

After a career in TV and High Tech, Wes moved his young family back to San Luis Obispo. Wes McKee now coaches the Boys and Girls Golf Teams at his alma mater, and teaches all aspects of this game in clinics, small groups, and privately at Dairy Creek and Monarch Dunes Golf Courses. Wes uses video and new technology (TopTracer) to teach the physical fundamentals and mental skills needed to play better golf and fully enjoy the game. Coach McKee works with juniors and adults of all ages interested in developing a focused practice program that translates the “Range Game” to lower scores on the golf course. PGA Golf Professional. Scott Cartwright has lived in San Luis Obispo since 1990 and have been involved with many youth activities within the County while he and his wife Brenda raised their two kids Audrey and Bradley into the adults they have now become.

Who is Darren Avrit?

Coach Darren is a Cal Poly professor who specializes in coaching and golf instruction. Darren Avrit currently has two sons competing in college on scholarships at high level programs. Darren is a certified first tee coach and enjoys running both the Monarch Dunes and Dairy Creek First Tee programs. Darren is also a junior instructor and focuses on junior group coaching, and private junior lessons. Darren brings fun and enjoyment into the game for young players while giving them great direction.

What is Rory's career?

Highlights of Rory’s career were qualifying for the final stage of the US Open twice and competing against some of the best PGA tour players. As an instructor Rory quickly developed a passion for working with his students. In 2016 he went from an instructor to founding his own golf academy.
