You are expected to do well in all your science classes. Most schools set a minimum grade you must get in these classes. At the minimum you better get a C. But if you really want to get in, you better get A’s.
You do not have to get a science major to apply. In fact some students have commented that they felt more competitive by setting themselves apart with a different major. They mentioned that a different major made them stand out during interview time. But overall, just make sure you complete all the required classes.
Example: These are the dental school requirements for Harvard Dental School. They are one of the few schools that require math classes.
You will need to have a certain number of letter of recommendations to get into dental school. Start picked professors right now to write these letters. Check out my article on dental letters of Recommendation for great techniques on how to get these letters.
DAT Scores. You must also take the DAT to apply. Getting a good score on the DAT is very important so make sure you set apart some time to study for it. I used the whole summer and it worked out great for me. Also, realize that math is on the DAT so don’t forget to study up on math before the test.

The three critical requirements for a dentist license are an educational component, a written test, and a clinical examination. Besides these three components, additional requirements for licensure vary by state. Once a dentist has completed dental school and all the exams and potential postgraduate training, they are ready to go into practice. They can register as a practicing dentist, teaching patients the benefits of daily oral care, diagnosing and treating cavities or other dental problems, and helping patients have the healthiest mouths possible.
1) CODA, the agency which accredits dental schools, has a prescribed list of prerequisites that applicants to an accredited dental school must have completed. In short, it's 1 academic year (i.e. 2 semesters or 3 quarters) of biology, 1 year of general chemistry, 1 year of organic chemistry and 1 year of physics. In theory, that can be completed in only 2 calendar years. However, you probably won't be competitive with only the required core. Most successful candidates have a 4-year bachelor's degree or at least 3 full years of college under their belts.
Of course and many dental assistants do. 2500 times more assistants “may want to”, but only 1/2500th of those actually do.
Treat your prospective patients like how you would treat a family member. It would be good if there are standardized clinical guidelines in our country. Try to make effective use of your time and read as many books on the subject you possibly can. Dentistry is very vast and one cannot be well versed in all aspects of dentistry. Be updated in all recent advances. Make use of the technology and internet. A lot of YouTube videos provide information on clinical procedures. Never compare yourself with anyone. Always compare yourself with you only. How you have fared well as compared to how you were yesterday. Follow Eisenhower's matrix to manage time and work hard.

It makes no difference what you major is. However, you need to take a more rigorous course load, get good grades in them as well as on the DAT exam. No dental school will be impressed with an “A” in a bunch of Basket Weaving 101 classes.
Step 1: Take Lots of Math and Science Classes (and Do Well in Them!) The field of dentistry requires high-level knowledge of science and math, so try to take (and of course, do well in!) as many math and science classes as you can throughout high school.
If you decide to specialize in one of these fields, you'll likely need to continue your education in dentistry for two or more years. You'll also most likely need to get a specialty license in addition to your general dentistry license.

Shadowing is when you go in and watch a dentist work. Try to get a job working for a dentist or volunteer, even if it is just for a few hours a week. If you suggest this to a dentist, most of them will be willing to let you come in and shadow.
They particularly look at your general chemistry, organic chemistries, biology, genetics, physics and math. So make sure you do well in those classes by starting to get good at them now. Also, they are on the DAT admissions test.
You don’t need to become a great artist to become a dentist, but the people that are great artists in the dental school with me right now, are the best with their hands.
