However, it is recommended that a license be obtained before coming to Okinawa. The legal driving age in Japan is 18. Teenagers with a valid driver license or permit can only drive on base. If you plan to operate a motorcycle in Okinawa, you must complete a Motorcycle Safety Training.
A Reserve Officer must meet the same qualification process required of a regular, active-duty officer. Joining the reserves is a great way to be a Marine. You need to coordinate joining a reserve unit near the college that you attend, but that shouldn't be too hard. College will be slowed down about a year while you attend basic training, combat training and your specialty school.
