Biff failed to fulfill Willy's expectations, and that makes him a complete failure in his father's eyes. Failure 4: Willy is beginning to feel like a failure because business is slowing down and he's not providing for his family the way he used to.
Willy asks Bernard how he managed to succeed so well, while Biff did so poorly. According to Willy, Biff's life took a turn for the worse after the Ebbet's Field game. Bernard reminds Willy that Biff failed math, and as a result, he did not graduate. Bernard questions why Biff did not attend summer school.
As a result, Willy is responsible for Biff's downward spiral. Biff did not attend summer school or graduate because of Willy's perfidy. Now he is incapable of achieving success because he possesses no faith in his father or himself.
Biff represents Willy's vulnerable, poetic, tragic side. He cannot ignore his instincts, which tell him to abandon Willy's paralyzing dreams and move out West to work with his hands. He ultimately fails to reconcile his life with Willy's expectations of him.
Death of a Salesman Ending His grand scheme was for his life insurance policy to give Biff a chance to live the life Willy had never been able to live for himself. In the end, Biff remains firm in his decision to not be deluded by unrealistic expectations like his father.

He explains to his dad ''Pop! I'm a dime a dozen, and so are you!'' It might be easy for us to see this as an attack on his father, but it is more about honesty. Biff wants his father to know that it is okay to not be the president or the star football player. It's okay to simply work towards being happy. This scene shows us that Biff has intellect, insight and a desire for truth. Finally, Biff falls into his father's arms and begs him to let go of the phony dream that he is a ''leader of men.''
