Every course (with the below exceptions) counts toward the GPA, including P.E. and elective. Not counted toward the GPA is any + or – For example, B+ or B- counts the same as B when you figure out your GPA.

The Official UC GPA is calculated by dividing the total number of Grade Points by the total number of attempted UC Units. These figures can be found on the official transcript.
UCs do look at courses you take in freshman and senior years; the grades and rigor of your coursework are considered in context of your overall curriculum. So, a 3.8 GPA or Grade point average means an A-letter grade on a 4.0 GPA scale. Also, a 3.8 GPA is approximately equal to 90-92% marks. A 3.0 GPA is considered the national average GPA. Therefore, a 3.8 GPA is far better than a 3 GPA as it is above the average requirement.Feb 25, 2022
UC's mostly use your weighted capped GPA but they will look at your unweighted GPA. (If you have more questions or need clarifications ask down below in the comments). For context, I applied as a sociology major. I also completed 6/8 of the AP courses offered at my school, and took 8 honors courses.
