NECC allows a 100% refund of tuition and fees for a specific range of dates which is governed by the start date of each session. Students must officially drop their classes with Enrollment Services either in person or by calling 978-556-3700 during office hours within the stated refund period.
Tuition and Financial Support Tuition for in-district residents for the 2021-22 academic year is $140 per semester hour. A typical credit course is three semester hours. Four basic types of financial aid are available to our students: grants, loans, scholarships and on-campus employment.
WITHDRAWING A COURSE means: • That you are removing a course from your class list after the Add/Drop period has ended. • is the official notification to the college that you will no longer be attending the course.
Students must officially withdraw from college by submitting a completed withdrawal form to the Registrar's Office. Course and material fees are not refundable once a class begins, except when the college cancels a class.

Croskey notes that dropping a class is better than withdrawing, but withdrawing is better than failing. “A failing grade will lower the student's GPA, which may prevent a student from participating in a particular major that has a GPA requirement,” Croskey says.
Dropping out usually means you are going to get a failing grade and you don't care about it. But primarily, dropping out refers to leaving college life altogether. So if you intend to say that you dropped out of a class, you should use withdrawal. There are several time periods for withdrawal.
A withdrawal from a class (W) is GPA-neutral: instead of a grade, you receive a W notation on your transcript which does not affect your GPA; you also don't earn credits for the course.Feb 28, 2020
When you register for eligible classes, accepted financial aid will appear on your student account as expected aid and hold your classes. Financial aid does not pay your tuition and fees or generate any refund until it disburses.
If you have funds from your grant or loan awards in excess of your tuition and fees, funds are available in the bookstore for up to the maximums listed below. The earliest these funds are available is the day the books go on sale for the upcoming semester.
In order to retain eligibility for the aid that is disbursed and possibly refunded to you, you must attend class. Failure to attend a class will result in you being classified as a “no show,” which can reduce or cancel your financial aid for the semester. If you drop all classes, your aid will be reduced, and you may owe a balance to Waubonsee.
Federal regulations require students to maintain a minimum completion rate (see Standards of Academic Progress) to retain eligibility. Withdrawing from a course (s) or failure to earn credit hours in a course (s) will lower your completion rate.
