Even if you do fail, you can retake the class and ask for help. Although it will negatively impact your GPA and could affect your financial obligations, you can bounce back. Start by asking for more help and studying differently or harder if you retake the course. Most importantly, don't give up.
When you repeat a course, the second attempt and all subsequent attempts are used in calculating your GPA. The first attempt still appears on your transcript, but it is not used in calculating GPA. However, all other attempts are.
Depending on your college's GPA scale, that can mean anything below a 1.0 or 0.7 GPA counts as a failed class. If you fail a class, you'll get a 0 on your transcript — and that can bring down your GPA. Failed classes count toward your GPA, though some colleges do not count pass/fail classes in your GPA calculation.
If a student takes a course three times (the maximum allowed), the previous two grades will not be reflected in the GPA. Most courses can be elected only once for credit.
When a repeated course is failed, any previously earned credit for that course is lost. Only the most recent grade earned in a repeated course counts towards the cumulative grade-point average, even if the most recent grade is lower than one previously received for that course.

The failed subject will also be displayed on your transcript and count towards your grade-point average (GPA), which can affect your chances of getting into student exchange or further study (honours programs, for instance).
Retaking a Failed Course: The original failing grade will show as “R” on your transcript, and the previous failing grade will be removed from your GPA as long as you complete the course retake.
