The University of Toronto does not issue unofficial transcripts. You can view and print your complete academic history by logging into ACORN and visiting the Academic History page. Why do “in progress” courses (IPR) show up on my transcript even though I completed them?
If you receive an offer of admission, the following must be mailed directly to the Graduate Office, Department of Cell & Systems Biology, 25 Harbord Street, University of Toronto, Toronto ON M5S 3G5, Canada: Official transcripts of your academic record (from each university attended) sealed in an envelope and signed by the issuing institution.
The Admissions Committee may at any time during the application process, request applicants to submit official transcripts for all post-secondary institutions attended. For admission to the Faculty of Information standardized tests (such as GMAT or GRE) are not required or requested, and will not be considered.
If an offer of admission is made, official final transcripts needs to be received at the Faculty as part of the offer condition(s). Transcripts are considered official when they have been prepared, sealed in an envelope and signed over the back flap by an official at the issuing institution.
If you failed a course then you can retake it for credit. The failed grade will not be removed or averaged; rather both the failed grade and the new grade are calculated into the GPA and included on your academic transcript.
The course will remain on your transcript, but will have no impact on your GPA. In lieu of a numerical grade, the notation "LWD" will appear in its place. This is a request to late withdraw. Your approval is final, and requests to have the course added back will not be accommodated, and no refund will be issued.
Because for Canadians our first year counts for overall GPA calculation and entrance into Canadian grad schools particularly only count the last two years of your UG GPA.
While recognizing that there may be valid reasons to repeat a course, the U of T reserves the right to give preference to students whose marks are the result of a single attempt at each course.
Visit the Student Accounts website for payment information and the refund schedule. These are dates by which to drop courses, programs, cancel registration, and receive either a full or partial refund. Late course drops will result in no fee refund.
Dropping. While not as ideal as taking and passing a course, dropping a course has the fewest negative repercussions of the options included here. “A drop from the course is usually done early in the semester and has no impact on the student's grade, GPA or transcript,” Croskey says.
The key for applicants with a GPA below the norm at their target grad schools, experts say, is having some kind of positive accomplishment – such as high test scores, eloquent recommendation letters or successful graduate-level coursework – that outweighs their past academic performance.
Takeaway. In short: There are several ways to overcome a low GPA. Grades are an important—but not exclusive—signifier of future academic success. If your grades alone don't make your case, then let the work you have produced and the relationships you have nurtured earn you admission to your chosen graduate program.
Most top-ranked graduate programs typically prefer a GPA of 3.5 or better. Exceptions to this rule occur, of course, but many students give up their quest to attend graduate school due to a low (3.0 or less) GPA.
You should see if you aren't accepted on ouac after the final round of acceptances are out. They email you saying that you have not been accepted, but they do not send out a rejection letter as far as I know.
What is an Exclusion? If a course is listed as an exclusion on your transfer credit assessment, you may not enrol in that course for degree credit since the content of your transfer credit has overlap to the excluded U of T course.
In comparison to other renowned Canadian universities, the University of Toronto acceptance rate is 43%. This is primarily because the university accepts many domestic as well as international students throughout their campuses thus making the application process more competitive.

A. The offer of admission from the School of Graduate Studies is your official acceptance letter which outlines important information about your program (e.g., start date, graduate unit, program, and degree). Very often there are conditions on the offer, which must be satisfied before registration is permitted.
If your academic record has been negatively affected by disability related circumstances, or extenuating circumstances (such as a personal or family illness, tragedy, trauma or hardship), and your academic performance is slightly below the usual requirements for admission, the appropriate Admissions Committee may give special consideration. Although we cannot guarantee approval, each request will be reviewed on its individual merits.
Non-degree students enrol in arts, science or commerce/management degree credit courses, for which they have the prerequisites, but are not proceeding towards a degree. Admission consideration is based on your entire postsecondary academic record and your most recent annual average (GPA).
The University of Toronto does not have the capacity to admit all applicants who meet the minimum general and program-specific requirements. We seek to admit the best possible students on the basis of academic performance and potential, and will select students for admission based on competitive strength.

An introduction to our campus and what to look forward to as a student, including our programs, student life and more!
I was working on my PhD in materials science and Engineering when my Advisor and I had a serious falling out. It ended up coming to the point where I could switch advisors and projects and essentially start over or Master out. I ended up choosing to master out and I was really bummed.
For those who have went to a less prestigious school for undergrad and then went to an Ivy, Oxbridge, or another really prestigious university for grad school, have you ever heard or personally encountered snobbery from undergrads (or anyone else there)? Have you ever been made to feel like you didn't belong?
My partner and I are separating after 8 years together and I am in the process of trying to move everything out and driving cross-country to live elsewhere.
My university treated student workers like garbage and the lack of compassion for people during the pandemic in general has made me seriously reconsider my goal of being a professor. I wanted to do more teaching than research (I am a career educator) and it was traumatized to hear what my students were going through.
My uni is opening up again in the fall and I have no idea what to wear to campus anymore. My go-to was skinny jeans, nice sweater/top, and loafers or clean sneakers, maybe a structured jacket on a teaching day. But, after a year+ of lounge- and athleisure-wear, I can’t imagine being in jeans or hard shoes all day.
So next week I have to go into the city for some dental work. The problem is, it's right in the middle of the work day and they said I'll be in for an hour minimum. I have to get the bus so it'll ad another hour each way so I'd be better off taking the day off so I'm not rushed to get back and catch up after having dental work.
Hi all, I am 2nd-year PhD student in a medium-sized graduate program (~30-40 students), and recently, I expressed romantic feelings for someone else in the program and they reciprocated the feelings. In addition to being in the same program, this we are in the same sub-field of research and are in similar friend groups.
For applicants from many countries, the Department of Cell and Systems Biology requires an English Facility Test even in cases where the primary language of instruction was English. Students must arrange for their score to be reported electronically to the University of Toronto (Enrolment Services) by the testing agency.
Transcripts received unsealed or unsigned are not acceptable. Current or former University of Toronto students do NOT have to provide a transcript from the University of Toronto.
